California rubber company to move plastics division to Carson Valley
A rubber and plastic manufacturer will move its plastic division from California to Carson Valley in Douglas County and bring 40 jobs along with it, officials with Northern Nevada Development Authority announced Thursday.
VIP Rubber and Plastic has purchased a building near Johnson Lane and plans a Jan. 4, 2016 opening. The company's main manufacturing facility will remain in La Habra, Calif.
"We are very happy to be moving the newly acquired plastic division to Minden," said Howard Vipperman, President and CEO of VIP Rubber and Plastic Company. "We could have located anywhere, but Nevada has the best, most business friendly environment of all the places we looked at."
Founded in 1961, VIP Rubber and Plastic Company is a family owned and operated full-service rubber and plastic manufacturer capable of producing custom molded and extruded products for virtually any application. The company provides components for a wide array of industries such as automotive, aerospace, defense and many others. Using the latest in manufacturing equipment combined with the latest in technical and chemical research, VIP is constantly expanding their capabilities to meet their customers' needs. VIP takes pride in the quality of their products and works closely with their customers to ensure each product meets all specifications and requirements.
VIP Rubber and Plastic Company is currently in the process of obtaining the permits necessary to complete some minor improvements to their new location. VIP is offering the employees currently working at the Ontario, Calif., division the opportunity to move with the company but expects many of the jobs to be filled by local employees.
"VIP Rubber and Plastic will make an excellent addition to our manufacturing community in Northern Nevada," said Robert Hooper, Executive Director of Northern Nevada Development Authority. "The types of jobs that VIP plans to bring are a good example of the high paying primary jobs we need to grow our economy. VIP's decision to move to the Sierra Region further demonstrates our business friendly environment."
Northern Nevada Development Authority began working with VIP Rubber in 2010 in conjunction with NV Energy's economic development team. A special thanks also goes to Matt Carter of Intero Real Estate Services and Michael Hoeck, Andie Wilson and Brad Bonkowski of NAI Alliance Carson City for representing VIP Rubber and Plastic and the seller respectively in the company's real estate transaction.
