'Secret to Happiness' is focus of Carson City Rotary Club meeting Tuesday, public invited
Is there a secret to happiness? Members of the Rotary Club of Carson City will find out at the next club meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at noon in the Brewery Arts Center’s Grand Ballroom. The public is invited to attend.
Retired Carson Valley Chiropractor Skip Pardee will discuss “The Harvard Study on Happiness.” Pardee learned about the study while researching popular TED Talks.
While he has no connection to the study or Harvard Professor Dr. Robert Waldinger who gave the Talk, he has embraced its concept and speaks publicly about it. “Oh my god, everyone should watch this talk, he says. I had my wife and kids watch it, and from then until now I have recommended it to hundreds of people.”
Pardee will also talk about a newly released book “The Good Life” written by Dr. Waldinger that summarizes the study. Pardee explains that there is one crucial factor that connects happiness to physical and mental health, as well as longevity. “I will talk about that crucial factor. I think everyone on this planet should understand what that crucial factor is, because it applies universally to everyone. While I am not connected to the study or the book I think its message is important.”
