What Works: Give Your Dream a Deadline
Have you ever felt pulled to do something and you didn’t know why? You couldn’t state reasons for it. It just felt right? That, my friend, is your calling. And, I want to tell you today, you are worthy of it.
Whatever it is chose you. You may laugh at the idea or it may scare you, however, if it won’t leave your mind. If you can’t shake the smile you get when thinking of it, it just might be your next step on the road of life.
It has been said that goals without deadlines are just dreams. So, let’s pick the one that is loudest and make it real.
Recently, for me, it has been all about going to India. I have been pushing this idea in and out of my head for months.
I am not sure if yoga and yoga therapy have a place in my overall career. I am, however, very committed to helping companies and individuals in crisis or transition. But still, the idea nagged.
Here is what to do when your dream nags at you to become real.
Take a small step. For me, it was renewing my passport. It was fast and easy. That’s another indicator something is right. It just flows.
Feel into it. Once that step is done, feel into it. How do you feel with one step completed toward your dream? I keep my passport visible in my house and I feel happy. That’s another sign to move forward.
Research. Research your next step. Get clear on cost. Work on how you are going to accomplish. Don’t let the details discourage you. List the five top steps you need to take to accomplish your goal and take them.
Celebrate your accomplishments. Even if you are just saying, “thank you for being brave,” celebrate yourself. It can be scary to move toward a dream. Acknowledge yourself for that. You deserve it!
Keep yourself accountable. Set deadlines for your mini steps. Tell others about your deadlines so you have support.
Before long, with these steps, you will be living your dreams. Now the question is, what’s next for you? If you need help or a jump start on process or accountability, you know where to find me.
