Fast moving wildfire south of Gardnerville; Carson City and surrounding agencies responding
UPDATE 5:13PM: Two homes and three outbuildings burned on Stones Throw Road in the Frontage fire. Douglas County 911 Communications is working on the reverse 911 that will state that recommended evacuations have been lifted and residents can return to their homes in the Ruhenstroth area. The area on the west side of Highway 395, including Stone’s Throw, Frontage Road and the Riverview Mobile Home Park remain closed to the residents.

UPDATE 4:40PM: East Fork Fire Incident command has informed dispatch that traffic on Highway 395 will be opened with a pilot vehicle to guide motorists through.

UPDATE 4:25PM: Winds have calmed some allowing for helicopters to aid in the firefighting. East Fork Fire has downgraded the number of acres burned in the Frontage fire to 75. Two homes, and three outbuildings have been destroyed. No injuries have been reported.

UPDATE 3:56PM: East Fork Fire Incident Command reports via dispatch that forward progress on the fire has stopped at this time, which means firefighters are getting a handle on the fire.

UPDATE 3:39PM: Two homes and three outbuildings have been destroyed by the fire at this time, according to a dispatch report from East Fork Fire Protection District. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

UPDATE 3:23PM: The Frontage fire burning south of Gardnerville continues to spread with additional resources being put on the fire. At least 140 acres have burned, outbuildings have been destroyed.

UPDATE 2:58PM: Highway 395 is closed southbound at Riverview and northbound at Holbrook, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

UPDATE 230PM: Evacuations are underway for the Ruhenstroth area south of Gardnerville due to the fast moving wildfire that ignited Sunday afternoon south of Gardnerville.
East Fork Fire, Douglas County Sheriff’s, Search and Rescue are notifying residents and are removing livestock and other animals from the area, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. Evacuees are advised to go to the senior center in Gardnerville.

Fire crews from Douglas County to Carson City and surrounding counties have been called Sunday afternoon to a fast moving wild land fire burning off of Highway 395 and Wiseman south of Gardnerville.
The fire has burned up to 50 acres and is moving fast, being fueled by gusty winds threatening several homes. Carson City Fire Department has responded and according to scanner traffic.
Lyon and Storey County are sending firefighters, according to dispatchers.
The fire started around 1 p.m. and is burning on both sides of the Carson River in the Indian Trail Road area, according to East Fork Fire Capt. Terry Taylor. Winds are gusting to 40 mph. No airtankers or helicopters are available because of the wind.
Nearby residents in the Ruhenstroth area of Douglas County have been advised of a potential evacuation due to the wildfire, in the event it crosses Highway 395. Search and Rescue personnel are going door to door notifying residents.
