Fences come down at Ormsby House after Carson City supervisors OK permit extension
A day after the Carson City Board of Supervisors granted the owners of the Ormsby House an extension to its building permit, some of the fence surrounding the south side of the Carson Street corner structure were brought down.
On Thursday, the Board of Supervisors granted the third extension for the building permit, which was set to expire Oct. 8. On Friday a construction crew was seen taking down some of the fence that surrounds part of the property.
The owners of the Ormsby House confirmed earlier this summer that they are looking to sell the property located at 600 South Carson Street. An asking price has not been revealed.
The property has been a point of contention for many years. It created frustration among economic development officials because of the uncertainty of when or if the property would reopen, making it hard to attract other hotel operators to the downtown Carson City area.
