Couple who abducted children after Carson City court case sought by Douglas authorities
Authorities in Douglas County and Carson City continues to seek two people who were involved in an Amber Alert on Monday night following an abduction in which the children were returned safe.
At approximately 5:10 p.m. Dason Valdez and Krystle Reid were involved in a domestic incident with Valdez’s mother in the Indian Hills subdivision of Douglas County, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
Valdez and Reid are the parents of two children, ages 2 and 4. The children were awarded to Valdez’s parents on Monday in the Carson City District Court.
Valdez and Reid were unhappy with the court’s decision that resulted in Valdez battering his mother and forcefully taking the 4 year old child from his mother’s arms, according to a sheriff's office spokesman.
Valdez and Reid then abducted both children from the residence and fled to Carson City. Prior to leaving the residence Valdez told his parents that he was going to return later in the night and kill both of them.
A nationwide Amber Alert was sent out which resulted in the safe return of both children to the legal guardians; however, the suspects remain at large. The suspects’ vehicle, a white Mazda 4-door, has been located and impounded. There is currently no information of another vehicle that the suspects may have access to.
