NHP to ramp up patrol on Highway 50 in Mound House
With several serious traffic accidents that have occurred on Highway 50 at Mound House, the Nevada Highway Patrol announced today that it will begin an enhanced enforcement program starting Monday, Sept. 6.
NHP will place additional resources to Mound House for this directed enforcement assignment "in order to curtail this disturbing trend," according to an NHP press statement.
As part of the plan there will be a minimum of one trooper on patrol between the hours of 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. At most times, the NHP advises motorists to expect to see several troopers patrolling Highway 50 between Dayton and Deer Run Road.
Though the focus will be to significantly reduce the frequency of hazardous driving, speeding, and intoxicated drivers, troopers are directed to strictly enforce all traffic laws, according to the statement.
This concerted effort by the Nevada Highway Patrol will last for two weeks. NHP will compile statistics of the enforcement activity for this period, which will include the number of traffic stops, speeding citations, hazardous moving citations and DUI arrests, according to the statement.
Upon completion of this directed enforcement period, statistics of the activity will be released.
