Carson City authorities look for Mutual of Omaha Bank robber

A robbery at the Mutual of Omaha bank on North Carson Street in Carson City this afternoon has authorities searching for the suspect, described as wearing a red AC/DC t-shirt and jeans.

The robbery happened at about 12:35 this afternoon, at the bank, located at 1101 North Carson Street. No weapons were seen. The suspect has been described as a white male, approximately 30 years old, wearing blue jeans, a red shirt with AC/DC on it, and a black ball cap.

The FBI has been called, and are on their way to the scene and the Nevada Highway Patrol has also been alerted to look for the physical attributes of the suspect, including blond hair that was trimmed or shaved down on the sides.

Outside the bank an officer who was inside the bank questioning customers and employees stepped outside the bank to tell waiting customers that they cannot be allowed inside for at least a "couple of hours" as the investigation is underway.

Sheriff Ken Furlong and Undersheriff Steve Albertsen are on the scene, speaking with neighboring businesses to see if anyone saw anything. A UPS pack store clerk and a clerk at AM/PM said they didn't see anything unusual at the time of the robbery.

Furlong said they are unsure if the suspect fled on foot, or via a vehicle.

A witness said the red AC/DC t-shirt the suspect was wearing had a picture of band member Angus Young drinking a bottle of booze. He also had green striped sneakers and a black backpack.

If anyone knows a suspect who fits the description or is aware of anything about the robbery, they are asked to call dispatch at (775) 887-2009. If you believe that someone's life may be in danger or have specific information about the man's whereabouts call 911.
