Carson City arrests: Man jailed after allegedly pocketing money from auto parts employer
A 22-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday on felony suspicion of embezzlement, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Arrested was Edgar Omar Gutierrez. According to the booking report, a deputy was called to an auto parts store in the 1700 block of North Carson Street for a report of embezzlement.
An investigating deputy spoke with the store’s loss prevention manager who stated he had an employee who had completed six fraudulent return transactions and pocketed the money, the arrest report states.
The loss prevention manager identified the employee as Gutierrez who worked for him since Jan. 13, 2015. He stated that the total dollar amount of the fraudulent transactions was $212.13.
The manager stated he interviewed the suspect and he was honest and cooperative. He stated Gutierrez admitted to completing six fraudulent transactions and provided the officer with a copy of the transaction receipts outlining the six transactions.
The deputy spoke to the suspect about the allegations and read him his Miranda rights where he signed a rights waiver. He admitted during an interview that he did complete six fraudulent transactions amounting to $212.13. He was taken into custody. Bail: $15,000.
In other arrests:
— A 57-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 10:41 p.m. in the 1700 block of North Carson Street on gross misdemeanor suspicion of misuse of 911. According to the arrest report, the man had been calling 911 after an ongoing dispute with the maintenance man at the Frontier Motel. The suspect had been warned previously not to call 911 dispatch unless there was an emergency. He called again and was arrested. Bail: $2,500.
— A 24-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Thursday, 2:28 p.m. in the area of Highway 50 East and Sherman Lane on a misdemeanor warrant, violation of probation, issued through Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.
— A 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 10:38 a.m. in the 3100 block of Highway 50 East on a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant. Bail: $1,000.
— A 42-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 1:46 p.m. in the 4600 block of Sutro Place on suspicion on two violation of a suspended sentence warrants. Bail: $6,000.
— A 32-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Thursday, 11:29 p.m. in the area of North Stewart and East Long streets on a misdemeanor theft warrant and contempt of court. Bail: $1,500.
— A 32-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 10:11 p.m. in the area of Highway 50 and Sherman Lane on misdemeanor suspicion of being an intoxicated pedestrian in the roadway. According to the arrest report dispatch advised there were two reports of a man in the middle of the roadway who was nearly struck by vehicles.
A deputy found the man, walking westbound on Highway 50 in the center turn lane. The officer asked the man why he was in the middle of the road and the man replied he was crossing the street. The officer told him he observed him not crossing the street but walking in the middle of the road. The man did not have a phone to call for a ride. He submitted to a preliminary breath test with a result of .131. Bail: $72.
— A transient was arrested Wednesday, 10:08 p.m. in the 3300 block of East Nye Lane on suspicion of possession of a dangerous weapon (expandable baton) a gross misdemeanor, trespassing and a contempt of court warrant. Bail: $3,824.
