NHP investigates early Sunday crash on South Carson Street that injured Douglas teen
A crash early Sunday morning in Carson City that seriously injured a Douglas High School senior who was driving home from work remains under investigation by the Nevada Highway Patrol.
The adult driver of a Subaru who hit the 17-year-old female also remains in the hospital. Alcohol is being investigated as a possible factor at the time of the crash, law enforcement officers said.
The crash involves the driver of a blue Subaru, identified as Erin Parry, 33, of Carson City.
According to NHP Trooper Dan Lopez, witnesses report Parry was driving at a high rate of speed on South Carson Street when the Subaru struck the left rear of the white Jeep driven by the Minden teen. Her parents said she was on her way home from work at Galaxy Theater when she was struck by the Subaru.
The crash happened across from the Terrible Herbst gas station in the 4600 block of Carson Street and was reported at around 12:40 a.m.
The Jeep flipped over onto its roof and was on the shoulder of the highway facing southbound when emergency crews arrived. The teen in the Jeep had to be extricated.
Parry’s Subaru slid approximately 500 feet and rolled, winding up on its roof, said Lopez.
The impact of the crash left a large debris field in both lanes of traffic. Care Flight flew the teen to the hospital with serious injuries. Parry was taken by ground ambulance.
