USAF Commanders brings music ensemble to Carson City at free June 28 concert
With the memory of the performance by USAF Concert Band from Washington, D.C. not yet faded, we are pleased to announce the USAF Band of the Golden West Commanders will be appearing on stage at the Bob Boldrick Theater at the Community Center, 851 E. William Street, in Carson City Sunday afternoon, June 28 at 3 p.m.
The Chamber is once again pleased to co-sponsor the event with the City of Carson City to bring the newly-revived ensemble of 18 Airmen to perform tunes of the Big Band era and so much more.
Based at Travis Air Force Base in the San Francisco Bay Area, the band uses the “power of music to stir hearts and minds of audiences worldwide,” according to the press information. And, stir hearts and minds they do. No audience has ever left a USAF concert without first offering standing ovations.
Under the direction of Master Sergeant Jeremiah True, the Commanders are energetic and will certainly get those toes tapping and fingers snapping. Along with beloved big band tunes, expect to hear several forms of jazz, Broadway favorites and, of course, the requisite and much beloved patriotic music.
The Carson City Elks Lodge #2177 and Emblem Club will be hosting the Commanders for lunch before the performance.
Tickets are FREE and may be picked up at the office of the Carson City Chamber, 1900 S. Carson Street, near the Nevada State Railroad Museum. It will be a show you won’t soon forget!
