Casino Fandango's Rockin' Rib-Fest

Casino Fandango is bringing their annual Fandango Rockin’ Rib Fest back for the whole Memorial Day Weekend. From Friday, May 26 until Monday May 29, enjoy free admission for all ages at this festival with rib cooking, vendors, live bands, beer gardens and more.

The event is at Casino Fandango in the third floor parking garage, every day from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Virginia City

Virginia and Truckee Railroad adventure begins this Memorial Day Weekend

The Virginia Truckee Railroad steam and diesel daily trains begin Saturday, May 27, 2023 for the 48th season of opening weekend and Memorial Day celebrations.

Passengers will board at Virginia City take a 35 minute round-trip to Gold Hill. Steam trains are on Saturday and Sundays and diesel trains are Monday through Friday.

Participants sought for Carson City's annual Memorial Day flag placement

Chapter 7 of the Disabled American Veteran's will once again host the Memorial Day Flag placement at Lone Mountain Cemetery in Carson City.

South Lake Tahoe:

Living History Presentation: 'Snowshoe Thompson, Mailman of the Sierra'

On Friday, May 26 and 7:30pm, Valhalla Tahoe at the Tallac Historic Site offers a Chautauqua presentation of Snowshoe Thompson and his wife Agnes in-Mailman of the Sierra. Thompson carried the mail across the Sierra Nevada snows for 20 winters.

The Memorial Day Celebration of Heroes Parade honors all the men and women of the military who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country. The parade is held on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. Join Virginia City as they pay tribute and honor the great servicemen and servicewomen.

Living history Chautauqua at Lake Tahoe focuses on couple who survived Donner Party

On Saturday, May 27 at 3:30 p.m. Valhalla Tahoe at the Tallac Historic Site offers a Chautauqua presentation of James & Margret Reed in Those That Survived the Donner Party.

Honor fallen veterans with Memorial Day Veteran Event at Dayton Cemetery Monday

On Monday, May 29 in honor of Memorial Day, the VFW Post #8071 (Virginia City/Dayton/Silver Springs members) will be hosting their Annual Memorial Day Service at the Dayton Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Dayton at 9:00 a.m.

This event is to honor those veterans that have given the ultimate sacrifice and are now departed.

Learn Dayton’s best kept historical secrets at the Dayton Museum

Do you want to know the historic town of Dayton’s best kept secrets? Dayton Museum opened for the season on March 4 at the town’s 1865 schoolhouse at 135 Shady Lane. The museum promotes the discovery of the culture, the tools used by the pioneers, their lifestyles and names of many who settled in Dayton 174 years ago.

Registration has begun for Senior Citizens Oral History Theater Workshop at Dayton Valley Library

Senior Citizens are invited to participate in a free "Oral History Theater Workshop" at Dayton Library. The performance workshop will be based on Senior Citizen's personal stories from their lives. Seniors will share memorable stories from their past and we will transform a selected group of these stories into a theatrical performance.
