Carson City sheriff's deputies were asked to escort an ambulance that was followed by a train of a dozen Douglas County fire trucks and sheriff's patrol cars after a person at the Highway 395 and Stephanie Way wildland fire suffered what dispatch first reported to be a seizure.
Carson City dispatch personnel were called before 6:30 p.m. to help escort several emergency vehicles, said to be more than a dozen, from Douglas County down Highway 395 to Carson Street to Carson Tahoe Hospital. Carson City Sheriff's Office was asked to stop all traffic along the route allowing for the high speed procession.
A witness who observed the high speed procession of fire, ambulance and deputy units said the speed at which it was traveling was more than an average funeral procession or even a medical call. Carson City deputies, not told of why they were stopping traffic, were told to stop traffic along Carson Street to allow the ambulance and Douglas County fire and sheriff's personnel to proceed.
