Carson City area weather: Scattered light snow through Sunday then clearing and cooler
A storm system passing through the region Sunday morning has brought a dusting of snow to the Carson City area overnight, with higher amounts in the foothills and around Lake Tahoe.
Scattered snow showers are impacting mountain roadways, bringing slick conditions with chain and snow tire restrictions over mountain passes, including Highway 50 West Spooner, State Route 207 over Kingsbury Grade, State Route 431 Mt Rose Highway, and I-580 over Donner Pass. The greater Lake Tahoe area is under a Winter Weather Advisory through 11 a.m. Sunday.
The weather system is expected to linger and then move out this afternoon, but it will remain unseasonably cooler, NWS forecasters said.
The next notable storm from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning may produce similar conditions and impacts as the system that moved through early Saturday, NWS says in in its latest weather forecast discussion.
