Carson City to break ground Monday on new fire station and emergency operations center
The community is invited to join state officials, Carson City elected officials, the Carson City Fire Department and other city staff as they break ground on a new fire station and emergency operations center Monday, March 25, 2024, at 11 a.m.
The new facility, called Carson City Fire Station 55 and Emergency Operations Center, will be located at 3505 Butti Way in Carson City.
“The need for a new fire station was first identified as part of a study conducted 23 years ago and it will be the first new fire station in Carson City since the mid-1970s. The Fire Department is excited to improve emergency response times in the community with this new facility,” said Fire Chief Sean Slamon.
“Our community has grown since the 1970s and we are honored to be able to build a much-needed resource for our emergency first responders,” said Carson City Public Works Director Darren Schulz. Carson City Public Works is managing the project for the Fire Department, Emergency Management, and Information Technology.
TSK Architects designed the new fire station and CORE Construction will build it.
Earlier this year, the Carson City Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the project, which will include an 18,000-square-foot facility to serve as a fire station, an emergency operations center, IT offices, and a backup dispatch station. It will be the fifth fire station in Carson City.
The project is anticipated to be completed in summer of 2025.
