Musicale at The Maizie continues this week with two 'incomparable' artists
The Brewery Arts Center will host another Musicale at The Maizie event on March 26, 2022 at 7pm.
This new singer/songwriter series in what was formerly the Maizie Harris Jesse Black Box Theater, now simple known as The Maizie has created quite the buzz amongst music enthusiasts throughout the region.
Musicale at The Maizie is performed in an intimate setting with local and touring singer/songwriters giving them an opportunity to connect with the audience, interact and discuss the creative process. The definition of musicale is “a musical gathering or concert, typically small and informal” and that is exactly what this series is intended to be.
The March 26 event will begin at 7pm with two well known performers, Gia Torcaso and Joel Ackerson.
Gia Torcaso began writing songs back in college during boring science lectures. Her songwriting is a way for her to let go of inner demons as well as making important human connections with as many people as possible. Her music has been deemed "cute quirk rock" by a friend, but it finds roots in American storytelling, freestyle poetry, and sometimes modern folklore, dreaming up imaginary characters going through some pretty damn tragic events. The human experience through music is an inspiring thing, which is explored in depth on Gia's latest album "Beautiful War".
Joel Ackerson is best known for his role as guitarist/mandolinist and co-lead vocalist for the award-winning rock quartet The Novelists. In a career spanning almost three decades, Joel has shared his music at over 2500 shows in 37 states and 8 countries, featuring his storyteller lyricism and intensely emotive vocals. His recorded works included 11 studio albums and 3 EPs, and 8 of his songs have been featured in international TV shows. Since 2019, with The Novelists on hiatus, Joel has been focusing on solo writing and performance, once again embracing the folk music of his early career. He also still frequently performs with Andersen/Ackerson, a duo with Novelist co-lead singer, Eric Andersen.
Tickets are $10 per person and available on the Brewery Arts Center website: https://www.breweryarts.org or more information and videos can be found on our Facebook page.
