Sand Harbor boat launch to open on March 3
By the Nevada Dept. of Conservation and Natural Resources
The boat launch facility at Sand Harbor, Lake Tahoe will open March 3.
Boating hours will be 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Thursday through Monday, through the end of April.
Boat inspectors will be present during these hours with the Lake Tahoe Watercraft Inspection Program.
Closures or delayed opening of the ramp during scheduled hours may occur due to inclement weather. All closures will be posted on online at TahoeBoatInspections.com.
Lake levels are still very low and launch conditions may be hazardous, especially for boats over 16 feet. Please use caution.
Summer hours from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. will begin May 1.
Boaters only using Lake Tahoe are encouraged to get their watercraft inspected early this year prior to summer crowds.
Beginning May 1, all watercraft inspections will take place at roadside inspection stations only. Please visit the Nevada State Parks website at www.parks.nv.gov or TahoeBoatInspections.com for locations, 2011 fee structures and other information.
Watercraft inspectors are provided by the Tahoe Resource Conservation District and are very important in protecting Lake Tahoe from the threat of aquatic invasive species such as Quagga and Zebra mussels.
Remember to keep boats cleaned, drained and dry prior to arriving at the roadside inspection areas.
