Carson City area native Krysta Palmer qualifies in Qatar for Team USA in Olympic Team Trials
Carson City area native star swimmer Krysta Palmer received a fourth-place win along with teammate Alison Gibson in women’s synchronized 3-meter Wednesday in Qatar.
Palmer rose to fame as a 2020 Olympic bronze medalist in Tokyo for the 3-meter springboard diving event. Palmer was the first American woman to claim the medal since Kelly McCormick in 1988 during the Seoul Olympic games.
Palmer and Gibson scored a 279.30 at the World Aquatics Championship which has secured them a spot to compete for Team USA in the U.S. Olympic Team Trials.
Following the trial competition, they may be selected again to compete as part of the 7-person U.S. Olympic Team for the women’s synchronized 3-meter diving event.
The trials will be held at in June in Knoxville, Tenn.
The Summer Games are scheduled for July 26 through Aug. 11 in Paris for the 2024 Olympics.
