Senators run past Colts, 54-30, to clinch league title
With three games remaining on the regular season schedule, the Carson High boys clinched the league title Tuesday night at home by running past the visiting Wooster Colts, 54-30.
Their undefeated streak now stretches to 13-0 in the Sierra League. They are 11-5 overall.
The Senators started out cool on offense, trailing slightly after the opening period, a pattern of the last few games.
But they got hot in the second quarter, busting open the game with an 18-2 run to post a commanding 14-point advantage at the half.
Carson never relinquished the lead — or the point-spread — from there, outscoring the Colts 20-10 down the home stretch of the fourth period to pull away handily.
Asa Carter led the Senators with a game-high 17 points, followed by teammate Tez Allen, who posted 13 points for Carson.
Carson has three games left before the post-season, including two more home stands. The Senators play their final road game of the season at Galena Friday night at 7 p.m. They then host Bishop Manogue next Tuesday, and are home for the final game of the season against Douglas on Feb. 12.
