Carson City sheriff's arrest log: Man jailed on felony drug charges

An 18-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday on felony drug charges after he was found to be in possession of heroin, a pharmaceutical drug and paraphernalia when officers served him a warrant, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Edward Lee Moser Jr. was taken into custody by the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team following a consensual search. He’s been charged with two counts drug possession, two misdemeanor warrants and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the arrest report, SET deputies went to the residence to serve the warrants, which were for failing to report for drug testing as conditions of his probation. When the officer knocked on the door, the person inside who answered said Moser Jr., was inside and that he ran back into the back bedroom when he heard “sheriff’s office.” SET deputies were allowed into the residence.

The suspect was found hiding in a closet and was ordered out in which he complied. As he was being detained deputies found a loaded syringe on the floor that later tested to be heroin. Without any prompting from SET members, the suspect stated it was his syringe and that there was a gun in his bedroom under his bed and more drugs in the closet, according to the arrest report.

Moser Jr., was read his Miranda rights and agreed to speak. Officers asked if they could search his bedroom and were given permission. Deputies found a digital scale with brown residue, a burnt metal spoon with cotton swabs containing a brown substance, and a prescription vial of 400 mg Xylocaine, a medication commonly used for pain and numbness, which is injected at a doctor’s office or hospital and not prescribed to a person, according to the arrest report.

Deputies took custody of the drugs, drug paraphernalia and BB gun, which had a red bandana wrapped around the handgrip. Bail: $12,137.
