Details emerge in Thursday night Carson City home invasion shooting
An investigation continues today into Thursday night's home invasion shooting in Carson City where the homeowner allegedly shot an intruder in the leg.
The man shot, identified as Waylon Fillmore, was flown to Renown Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The man who allegedly shot Fillmore in the leg and the man's wife were treated for minor injuries by paramedics at the scene. Neither have been arrested.
Investigators learned the man who was shot at a residence in the 3100 block of Desatoya had been in an earlier altercation at a residence in the 3500 block of Desatoya Drive. At that residence, several arrests were made that were unrelated to the shooting.
A 42-year-old woman was taken into custody Thursday on suspicion of gross misdemeanor destruction of evidence and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. A 24-year-old man faces a misdemeanor charge of obstructing. Another man was jailed after officers learned he had a warrant for his arrest.
According to the arrest report, it was believed the man was injured before being shot in the leg and deputies were sent in to investigate.
During the investigation, surveillance cameras from Carson City Corporate Yard captured Fillmore jumping over a wall toward Butti Way before the shooting. Fillmore came from the 3500 block of Desatoya.
At around 6:40 p.m. officers went to the 3500 block of Desatoya and found a man and a woman in the driveway. The man, age not provided, was described as very intoxicated and denied knowing Fillmore. The man had a confirmed warrant for his arrest out of Carson City Justice Court.
The 42-year-old woman then when to the front door of the residence and brought two others out, including a woman and a 24-year-old man. The woman told officers that Fillmore had been in a fight with the 24-year-old man at their residence prior to the shooting and Fillmore had jumped over the wall, the arrest report states.
As officers went to arrest the man who had a warrant, he gave the 42-year-old woman items from his pockets, the arrest report states. While the officer was handcuffing the man with the warrant, the woman allegedly dropped a glass pipe to the rocky ground, which broke. The pipe contained meth residue, the arrest report states. She was taken into custody on the gross misdemeanor charge of destruction of evidence and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
The 24-year-old man, believed to have been in the altercation earlier with the man who was shot in the leg, was cuffed. He became increasingly agitated and began to shout that he had been to prison and was not afraid to go back, the arrest report states.
As the man was yelling he turned toward deputies Pullen and Miller and walked toward them, attempting to chest bump the officers, the arrest report stated.
The officer pushed the man back against a parked vehicle and was told he was being arrested for obstructing an officer. The deputies escorted the man to the closest patrol car and placed him in the rear seat. He was booked into jail on the misdemeanor charge without incident.
