Carson Stomps Reno In Football
Friday night at Carson High School, one of two semi final games were played to decide who would advance to the Northern Regional Championships as the Carson Senators took on the Reno Huskies. The contest would be the last home football game at Carson High School for some months with the Regional Championship already set to take place at Manogue Saturday, Nov. 29.
The game started off with an unsuccessful drive a peice. Reno's second possession resulted in a fumble and a Carson recovery. The first play following the fumble Asa Carter breaks away from the pack on a run for about 50 yards and the very next play Carter ran the ball in for a Carson touchdown. Asa Carter stuck again on another explosive run sponsored by some fantastic blocking in the next Senator possession to put the Senators up 14-0 with 40 seconds left in the first quarter.
Into the second quarter and Reno faked a punt with about 9:10 left in the second quarter but Dylin Rooker of Carson kept the ball for himself with an interception. The following drive ensuing the interception the Senators ran all over the Huskies to find the end zone and after the third successful extra point ran the score up to 21-0 with 3:18 left in the half. After a 3 and out Reno punted the ball away with 2:11 on the clock and Carson took over starting on their own 18. After a series of big plays. Carson topped the explosive force off with a huge Joe Nelson to Connor Pardare connection and continued to add on to the shut out at 28-0 with 58 seconds left in the half
The first play from scrimmage of the second half Asa Carter broke away again on a massive 70+ yard run to crank the score up to 35-0 Carson. After a turn over on downs Carson wasted no time driving down the field again but were halted at the 20 yard line and the Huskies took over after an unsuccessful field goal attempt. The huskies finally showed some kind of life after a huge completion to make a promising drive down the field before going for it on 4th and long on the 36 yard line and once again failed to execute as the third quarter expired.
For some fourth quarter action Carson made a promising drive down the field but settled for a long field goal attempt that ended up well short and Reno claimed the ball once again. Reno finally got on the board after a promising drive down the field and were able to pound it in with 8:14 left on the clock in order to bring the score to 6-35 after an unsuccessful extra point attempt. he rest was history as Carson meticulously ran down the clock to all zeros and signing their own contract to play against Reed this Saturday at 1 o' clock at a neutral Bishop Manogue High School.
