'Lumber Baron of the Comstock Lode: The Life and Times of Duane L. Bliss' author to speak
His recently published work, “Lumber Baron of the Comstock Lode”, is a biography of Duane L. Bliss’s life and highlights his early days of lumbering activity during the Comstock period, as well as his involvement in the building of the V & T Railroad.
The book also describes how, later, Bliss realized a responsibility for the local forests and undertook activities to build national and international interest in Lake Tahoe as a summer tourist mecca. This biography bears significant interest to the region in view of Bliss’s impact on the Tahoe Basin, Carson City and northern Nevada.
Harpster’s PowerPoint presentation will be followed by the sale of his book and author signing.
