Carson City's Muscle Powered to take on portion of Carson River at next Trash Mob
Muscle Powered will host its next Trash Mob cleanup in Carson City on Saturday, April 20 at East Silver Saddle Ranch. Volunteers will set out to do cleanup along the river between Sierra Vista Lane and the Carson River.
The cleanup begins at 9 a.m. Meet at the large new parking lot 1 mile south of Pinion Hills Drive on Sierra Vista Lane.
For those volunteering, closed toed shoes or boots are required. Recommended: long pants, and long sleeved shirts, hats, sunscreen and water. Muscle Powered will provide gloves, grabbers, and bags.
Muscle Powered works to make Carson City healthier for all citizens and safer and more accessible for bicycling and walking through education and advocacy, the promotion of bicycle and pedestrian friendly infrastructure, and developing and maintaining recreational trails throughout the city.
The nonprofit organization was founded on the idea of building a sustainable infrastructure for walking and biking, and will continue to support such efforts through a strong tradition of volunteerism. This will include enhancing infrastructural items such as sidewalks and bike lanes, increasing the mileage of multi-use trails in Carson City, and linking bicycle and pedestrian facilities with public transportation.
