Southwest Gas and Butler Gourmet Celebrates Summer

History will come to life at the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City during the five-day celebration of Independence Day. Visitors can ride a train pulled by steam locomotive No. 25 Saturday, June 30 through Tuesday, July 3, and photograph significant cars on special outdoor display including the fully restored McKeen motor car. On the Fourth of July, the rare McKeen motor car will operate on the rails offering passengers rides all day.

Mile High Jazz Band presents Jazz & Poetry

The Mile High Jazz Band and guest vocalist Pat Esters will be joined by several poets and readers for a lively evening of big-band music and poetry with an animal theme. Poets names will be drawn from a hat for each reading, followed by a big band tune. The event will be on Tuesday, June 12, 8:00 to 10:00 p.m., at Comma Coffee, outdoors in the courtyard, weather permitting. Comma Coffee, 312 S. Carson Street, is across the street from the state legislature building in Carson City. Admission is $5 general and free for age 18 and under.

Larson, about the nicest witch in Fairytale Land, who embarks on a journey to save all the witches' reputations by saving the Prince. Along the way whe meets some familiar and misunderstood fairytale characters and she also comes to find that an historically sweet and loving character is really evil. This is a wonderful family show that will appeal to any age group. The play is directed by Gardnerville's own Riley Cooper.
