Nevada Day Golf Tournament hits the green Saturday at Silver Oak Golf Course in Carson City

Over 25 teams signed up to support this annual event, which provides a portion of the funds raised to the high school bands throughout the state to assist with their travel to the Nevada Day Parade in October, while the remainder of the funds supports the Nevada Day Parade.

To close out National Donate Life Month, the ceremony included a moment of silence, a poem-reading and the chance for attendees to write notes of gratitude to honor organ donors.

Carson City deputies arrest man for arson after setting bush on fire near Lompa intersection

On Thursday, deputies were dispatched to an open field at the intersection of N. Lompa and Menlo Dr. on report of an active brush fire with what appeared to be a homeless man who had started it, according to the arrest report.
