Big innings key as Southern Idaho sweeps twin-bill to open series
A tendency to give up big innings has hindered the Western Nevada College softball team so far this season. And the old nemesis came back to strike again on Friday afternoon when College of Southern Idaho swept past WNC 9-0 and 16-1 in a Scenic West Athletic Conference double header at Edmonds Sports Complex.
A five-run second inning, coupled with three more runs in the fifth lifted CSI (22-10 overall, 13-5 SWAC) to victory in the opener. In game two, the Golden Eagles scored 14 runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings en route to their second win under blustery and cold weather conditions that also saw occasional rain. Both games were shortened to five innings due to the eight-run rule.
