After a gauntlet of five tough games, the Western Nevada College softball team rolled to its first win of the season on Sunday in Las Vegas.
WNC sustained its fifth straight loss to top competition from Arizona when it lost to Pima Community College 9-1 but came back to rout Arizona's Gateway Community College 12-0 in a game that was called in five innings due to the mercy rule.
Elisa Dawson pitched a complete game shutout for WNC, allowing two hits and strking out four in five innings. Lisa Senko also had an outstanding day, going 5-for-6 in the two games. "Lisa Senko had an awesome day," WNC coach Leah Wentworth said.
