WASHINGTON, D.C. – Nevada's 2nd District Congressman Mark Amodei released the following statement after voting in favor Thursday of H.R. 1, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, a comprehensive plan to reform the nation’s tax system:

Carson City Chief Deputy Clerk, Aubrey Rowlatt, announced her bid to run for the office of Carson City County Clerk-Recorder in the November 2018 election.

The Carson City School District is seeking applicants for an appointment to its District 6 Trustee seat, CCSD Superintendent Richard Stokes said.

The seat was left vacant by Susan Hart, who resigned in December as she prepared to move out of state, the school district office said.

The Levitt AMP Carson City Music Series elevated the Brewery Arts Center’s existing summer concert series, filling the Minnesota Street Stage with free, live music and transforming an underused street in the heart of downtown Carson City’s Historic District into a vibrant gathering place for the surrounding community.

The concert series will return again for 2017, according to Gina Lopez Hill, executive director of the Brewery Arts Center, which was responsible for last year's and this year's proposal to bring the concert series to Carson City and getting Carson City residents to vote for the capital city's chances online.

Prior to the 2 pm Vintage Project meeting, I requested that this agenda item be moved to an evening session so that citizens could have a better chance to attend and address the Board.

The Mayor asked for a motion, as usual my fellow Board members all refused to agree with me. Based upon this non-action by the Board, an outside observer might then assume that the Vintage Project could not have any adverse effect on our community whatsoever, because the need to give citizens a better opportunity to have a voice had no merit with Board members Crowell, Abowd and Bagwell.

The national business movement Independent We Stand has declared Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery in Carson City among the quarter finalists for the 2016 Independent We Stand Small Business of the Year Award. The Carson City Board of Supervisors voted 3-1 Thursday night to approve amending the city's Master Plan Land Use Designation (MPLUD) affecting the Vintage at King's Canyon Tentative Planned Unit Development (TPUD), but with conditions.

Carson City's Board of Supervisors voted 2-1 Thursday to approve the transfer of the former Horseshoe Club's gaming license from Nevada Treasure Chest to Silver Bullet of Nevada, LLC, which owns Bodine’s Casino.

This open letter is intended for (1) all residents of Carson City in general, (2) the neighbors of this proposed mixed-use development in particular, and (3) specifically to the members of the Carson City Board of Supervisors.

Brewery Arts Center is currently in the running to bring a 10 week live music series to Carson City during the Summer of 2017. With the Levitt AMP Carson City 2016 Award, the Brewery Arts Center was able to bring in such Nationally renowned groups as Mumbo Gumbo, Southern Drawl Band and SambaDa’, for FREE concerts for 10 straight Saturday nights and became the cornerstone of entertainment and family friendly activities all summer long.

The Nevada Indian Commission will honor four Nevadans for their contributions to the American Indian community at 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at the Governor’s Mansion in Carson City, at the American Indian Achievement Awards Banquet and Silent Auction, now in its seventh year.

As three times before, this is project being rushed prematurely. There is no reason why this project should be on the agenda a week after Thanksgiving, with the deadline for comments just as a week from TODAY, or only THREE days before Thanksgiving.

It's now crystal clear our nation's very future hinges upon this election! Neither candidate is highly respected. But Clinton would expand a corrupt governing elite while Trump will blow it up! We can continue as serfs of the corrupt establishment or restore power to the people.

Let's put this silly claim by my opponent that he's the voice of reason to rest and use his supposed opposition to the 1/8th city sales tax hike to do it.

With the city Supervisor seat from Ward 4 in the balance, Jim Shirk once again wants to have things both ways in typical politician fashion by saying he voted against the sales tax hike and opposed the downtown Carson Street project, yet he leaves out important details about his voting record and value received.

As his opponent, I'm duty bound to point out the following:
