Virginia City is offering lovers a chance to celebrate a special Valentine’s Day getaway without going too far from home. "The Devil Made Me Do It" takes place Saturday, Feb. 13 in Virginia City, Nev., and includes options for couples or small groups of friends to enjoy a historically quaint Valentine’s weekend in the mountain mining town.

Historic Virginia City has always placed a strong emphasis on supporting those who have served our country. A walk down the wooden board sidewalks demonstrates this in the many memorial flags of those who gave their lives in service. Because honoring our veterans is so important, Virginia City will be holding a Veterans Day Cruise this Wednesday, Nov. 11 beginning at 11 a.m. on C Street.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region. The Nevada Day Golf Tournament in remembrance of Mayor Bob Crowell will be held at Silver Oak Ranch Golf Course on Saturday. While the annual Fourth of July firework shows began to be cancelled throughout the Silver State in May, Virginia City has opted for a social distancing celebration.

Virginia City and parades are synonymous with each other. But how do you throw a parade during the age of social distancing and with many COVID-19 restrictions still in place? Easy. What is traditionally one of the largest parades for the historic town, the Memorial Day Parade, will turn into a cruise honoring our country’s fallen heroes.

Virginia City, Nev., once a boomtown responsible for producing more than $700 million in mined gold and silver ore from the Comstock Lode, is today primarily driven by tourism. Its main street is lined with mom and pop shops, restaurants and businesses with owners who’ve called this small mountain mining town their home for years.

VIRGINIA CITY, Nev. — Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties September breakfast meeting is on Thursday, Sept 12 at 9am at the Storey County Community Center in Virginia City.

Guest speakers this month are Ginger Paulsen from Reno Behavioral Healthcare Hospital, and Robin Reedy from state of Nevada chapter of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness).

Saddle up with a giddy up to the Comstock August 24-25, as the rodeo returns to Virginia City bringing with it a full force of western and cultural heritage beginning with a longhorn cattle drive right down the center of town. The 4th annual Virginia City Rodeo and Fiesta del Charro features a mutton bustin’ tournament, classic bull fighting, traditional rodeo events and a celebration of Hispanic heritage.

Renowned American Artist, E. Louise Kerr, peacefully passed away in her Virginia City, Nevada home with her loved ones by her side. February 19, 1925 to November 13, 2018

The Capital City Arts Initiative presents its exhibition, "New Crop 2019", by artists Mark Combs and Frances Melhop at the CCAI Courthouse Gallery. CCAI will host an opening reception on Friday, June 7, 5 to 7 p.m. The artists will give a brief talk about their work at 5:30 p.m. The exhibition will be in the gallery from June 7 to Sept. 26, 2019.

Whether you like your chili hot, spicy or mild, you can bet the beer will be icy cold at this weekend's 36th annual Chili on The Comstock in Virginia City.

Chili and beer lovers will again unite on the Comstock this Saturday and Sunday to taste chili samples from award-winning cooks hailing from all over the west coast, while sipping local brews during the all-new Craft Beer Tour, featuring some of Virginia City's local breweries and craft beers.

Robert C. Gray, 97, of Orinda, California passed away peacefully at home April 3, 2019. Robert was born in Oakland, California to Harry E. Gray and Kathleen S. Carter on August 13, 1921.

Robert was kind, energetic and lived a full life. He was an advanced stamp collector and in 1935 he attended the first Boy Scout National Jamboree at Washington D.C.

Nevada Author, Sandie La Nae, will be selling her books at the "Doc's Real Cowboy Wild West Fest" event that is being held on the 2019 Memorial Day weekend, at the Virginia City Arena

Uncovering Nevada’s past is the topic for the Carson City Leisure Hour Club on Wednesday, March 20. Presented by Dennis Casinelli, club members will learn about artifacts that he discovered while growing up in Nevada and during his long career as a highway engineer for the Nevada Department of Transportation. He also founded Cassinelli Landscaping and Construction, which still serves Northern Nevada today.

Chautauquan Deke DiMarzo will portray Watchman Alex Coryell: Virginia City Police Department 1873 to 1891 at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park on Wednesday, Aug. 15 at 6:30 p.m.

AUDITIONS! Piper’s Players, a community theater based in Virginia City, Nevada, is holding auditions for this year's production of “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”

Auditions will be held at Piper’s Opera House (12 B Street) on August 15 and 16 from 6p.m. – 8p.m. (Bring water – it’s a historical building.) Callbacks will be on August 20, between 6pm and 8pm.

Performances will be December 8, 9, 14, 15, and 16, 2018 at Piper's Opera House.
