2nd Annual Nugget Pre-Noel Craft Fair

After the success of last year’s fairs, we are again scheduling an indoor holiday craft fair in the Carson Nugget Casino, in downtown Carson City, in the 2nd floor banquet rooms on November 19 & 20 with early on Saturday morning via the casino loading dock. Sell times will be 12 noon till 7pm Saturday; 12 noon till 5 pm Sunday.

Carson Station celebrates grand re-opening with wing cookoff

There were wings everywhere, of all types and flavors; the garlic parmesan seemed to be getting the best reviews from the crowd. There were four types of beer on tap (at a dollar apiece it was easily the best deal in town) and all of them were ice cold. For another dollar, one could buy a "walking taco": a small bag of Doritos, crushed and covered with meat, cheese, onions, tomatoes, lettuce and salsa, eaten right out of the bag.

'Sassafras' to replace closing B'Sghetti's restaurant

While Carson City residents were mourning the loss of B'Sghetti's restaurant this week, it appears that plans for a new eatery named Sassafras were coming together behind the scenes.

Sassafras will be a "chalkboard restaurant" with a changing menu focusing on fresh, local foods, according to a press release sent to Carson Now. The restaurant will be a partnership between Chef Anthong "Tony" Fish who currently operates "The Grill" at Mo and Sluggo's, and B'Sghetti's owner Scott Doerr, along with Carl Ceccarelli and Jayme Watts.

State Agencies Asked To Document Settlements Paid To Employees, Vendors

CARSON CITY – Gov. Brian Sandoval has asked state agencies to document payments made to employees and vendors after learning at a meeting earlier this month of several undisclosed settlements, including three made by the Department of Transportation.
State Budget Director Andrew Clinger sent out a memo today requesting the information by June 1.

Wolf tags go on sale in Idaho

Idaho Fish and Game has started selling wolf tags - $11.50 for resident hunters and $186 for nonresidents, vendor fees included.

Tags are available at license vendors and Fish and Game offices. A valid 2011 Idaho hunting license is required to buy a tag.

Second reminder of Idaho moose, sheep and goat applications

This is a second reminder that April is not just tax month; it's also the month to apply for Idaho moose, bighorn sheep and mountain goat hunts.

Applications for these controlled hunts will be accepted from April 1 through April 30.
Hunters may apply at Fish and Game offices, license vendors, and with a credit card by telephone or over the Internet.

Show and Shine at Carson City Harley Davidson

A Show & Shine will be at the Carson City Harley Davidson on Saturday, April 16 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is presented by Capital Classic Productions. All cars, trucks and motorcycles welcome. The Show & Shine costs $20 for participants/entrants. The public showing is free. Proceeds go to support the Food Bank of Northern Nevada. All food donations stay in Carson City. Music, food, vendors and raffles are all part of the fun.

New DMV Director Says “DMV In A Box” Proposal Will Revolutionize Service

CARSON CITY – Long lines at the Department of Motor Vehicles could be a thing of the past under a new proposal.
The new director of the state’s DMV plans to ask the Legislature to pass a bill that would allow 80 new, self-service kiosks in many Nevada neighborhoods.

$177 Million Medicaid Contract Approved By Gov. Sandoval, Board Of Examiners

CARSON CITY – It didn’t take long for Gov. Brian Sandoval to encounter controversy in his new job.
At his first Board of Examiners meeting as governor today, Sandoval had to deal with a vendor dispute over a massive $177 million Medicaid contract.

Carson High School Holiday Craft Faire

The 16th annual Carson High School Holiday Craft Faire will be on Friday, Nov. 19 from 5 to 8 p.m. and again on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Carson High School. The cost is $2 on Friday or $1.50 on Saturday with a non-perishable food item. Children and high school students are free.
There will be more than 100 vendors and booths at the fair, selling an array of arts, crafts and gifts for the holidays.
Proceeds raised from the Santa photo shoot will go to the family of McKenna Mitchell, a 14-year-old Carson High School freshmen who has cancer.

Carson City Harley-Davidson will be a major venue for motorcyclists as Street Vibrations gets underway throughout Northern Nevada.

Carson City festivities begin today through Sunday, including a fireworks display on Friday night. Harley-Davision is located at 2900 Research Way.
