Local Walmart Stores Pull Toys for Tots Donation Boxes

The Marine Corps League, organizing the annual 'Toys for Tots' toy drive for families in need in the Northern Nevada region says local Walmart stores have removed donation boxes from area locations.

The Carson City store on Market Street and the store in Gardnerville on Grant Avenue, have allowed the Carson City Toys for Tots group to place donation boxes at their stores. The group says managers at the Topsy Lane location told them they were instructed by Walmart's corporate office not to allow the donation bins because Walmart as a corporation was only allowing donations to be made to the Children's Miracle Network.

Fortunately a large, eager, group of volunteers came together who were quick to get down to business and get the donations and interest pouring in. It wasn’t long before businesses, as well as community organizations and individuals were giving.
