Motorcycle rider involved in fatal Carson City crosswalk crash jailed on felony DUI charge

A Minden man was arrested in the Veterans Day 2014 motorcycle crash that killed a Carson City casino employee as he was walking through a crosswalk on Stewart Street.

Michael F. Trute, 56, turned himself into Carson City Jail deputies Wednesday, 11:20 a.m. for a felony warrant, driving under the influence of alcohol causing substantial bodily harm, issued June 30, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. His bail was set at $10,000.

Woman flown by Care Flight after being hit in crosswalk on West College Parkway

A woman was flown by CareFlight this morning after she was struck by a car while crossing a crosswalk on West College Parkway near Save Mart at the north end of Carson City.
The accident happened at around 7:30 a.m. Traffic is being diverted around the accident scene and is under investigation, said Carson City Sheriff's Office Sgt. Mike Cullen.

A passenger inside a SUV that was struck head-on by a car going the wrong way on I-580 through Washoe Valley died at the scene early Sunday morning, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol. Three other vehicles were involved in secondary crashes in which the victims sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The name of the person who died has not been released. The crash happened at 2:15 a.m. in the northbound lane just south of Bellevue Road in Washoe Valley, said NHP Trooper Dave Gibson.

Antioch woman identified in fatal Highway 50 motorcycle crash Saturday at Lake Tahoe

A 53-year-old Antioch, Calif., woman was identified as the motorcycle rider killed in a two-vehicle crash that happened Saturday night on Highway 50 in Zephyr Cove at Lake Tahoe.
Amber R. Hallmark died in the crash that happened at around 8 p.m. in the area of Highway 50 and Martin Drive, said NHP Trooper Dave Gibson.

Man dies in officer involved shooting in South Lake Tahoe

A man is dead after an officer involved shooting early Monday morning in South Lake Tahoe. Two South Lake Tahoe police officers responded at 2:40 a.m. to a suspicious circumstance call at Tahoe Hacienda Inn, in the 3800 block of Lake Tahoe Boulevard, said South Lake Tahoe Police Chief Brian Uhler.

A vehicle going the wrong way on I-580 near the Bowers Mansion interchange north of Carson City is believed to have caused a crash early Sunday morning involving five vehicles that killed one person and injured several others, a Nevada Highway Patrol trooper said.

The University of Oregon right-hander was selected in the 16th round by the Milwaukee Brewers on the final day of the draft Wednesday, marking the third straight year that the former Wildcat pitcher and outfielder has been selected.

WNC freshman outfielder DJ Peters was selected for the second time in as many years. The Texas Rangers took Peters in the 36th round. Peters was also chosen a year ago in the 36th round by the Chicago Cubs.

The couple was attending the wine walk and got into a heated argument about raising their children, according to the arrest report.

Emergency crews respond to pedestrian vs vehicle crash at Airport Road and Highway 50

Carson City fire and ambulance were called to a pedestrian accident, possibly on a bicyclist who was hit by a vehicle in the area of Airport Road and Highway 50 East.

Two people died and two are injured in a head-on crash early Saturday on Interstate 80 involving a vehicle going the wrong way near Sparks Boulevard, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Troopers responded at 3:15 a.m. to the crash west of Sparks Boulevard, involving a 1990 Mazda pickup driven by an adult male driver along with a male passenger who were traveling the wrong direction, going westbound in the eastbound travel lanes of I-80, said NHP Trooper Dave Gibson. A Fallon man was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash Monday on Highway 50 at the intersection of Pine Cone Road in Dayton. The man's wife sustained moderate injuries. Both were taken to Renown Medical Center in Reno via Care Flight, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Carson City man facing felony charge in 2013 fatal pedestrian crash released on bail

A 29-year-old Carson City man who had been released from prison in Lovelock was booked into Carson City Jail Tuesday on a felony warrant in connection to an early morning February 2013 pedestrian hit and run crash on William Street in which a Carson City contractor died.

John Raymond Gelien was then released Tuesday on $50,000 bail, according to a Carson City jail deputy.

His arrest stems from an incident that happened at around 6:30 a.m. Feb.

College of Southern Nevada's Mello took a four-hit shutout into the final inning, but the Wildcats fought back to score two runs before falling in the elimination game, 7-2.
