At least one dead, several injured in wrong way vehicle crash on I-580 near Bowers Mansion
UPDATE MONDAY: A passenger inside a SUV that was struck head-on by a car going the wrong way on I-580 through Washoe Valley died at the scene early Sunday morning, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol. Three other vehicles were involved in secondary crashes in which the victims sustained non-life threatening injuries.

A vehicle going the wrong way on I-580 near the Bowers Mansion interchange north of Carson City is believed to have caused a crash early Sunday morning involving five vehicles that killed one person and injured several others, a Nevada Highway Patrol trooper said.
The crash was reported at 2:13 a.m. and happened when the driver was going southbound in the northbound lane, the NHP trooper said. The injured were taken to hospitals. At least one person has critical injuries, the trooper said.
Carson City sheriff's deputies and emergency crews were called for mutual aid to assist Washoe County and NHP with the crash victims. The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating.
