The annual Letter Carriers’ “Stamp Out Hunger” Food Drive was a big success in Dayton.

On Saturday, May 12, your Carson City area letter carrier will be doing more than just delivering letters and packages. They will be collecting food as part of the national Stamp Out Hunger Food drive.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the largest one day food drive in the nation. Letter carriers have collected over one billion pounds of food since the first food drive in 1998.

Carson City Empty Bowls Project culminates with Dec. 2 fundraiser

After collecting as many pottery bowls as possible throughout the year, the local Empty Bowls Project is holding its annual fundraiser Friday, Dec. 2 at the First Presbyterian Church in downtown Carson City to deliver a blow to hunger in the community.

Carson City ramps up for 2016 Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive

It is again time for the annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. This is the largest one day food drive in the nation, and helps local food banks stay stocked through the summer. All donations stay in the community in which they are collected. Last year we collected over 30,000 pounds of food for our community.

Happy Mother’s Day, Carson City! Several family friendly events are occurring around town this weekend. Take a ride on the McKeen Motor Car at the Nevada State Railroad Museum or the Ferris Wheel at RSVP’s Spring Fair and Carnival. A Harmonica and Strings Concert at Empire Elementary School showcases what some of our talented students can do. Get up early and head over to the Carson City Airport if your youngster has any interest in planes: Young Eagles flights are happening today if the weather permits.

23rd Annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive

The 23rd Annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive will be taking place Saturday, May 9th. This is the largest one day food drive in the nation and helps to restock food banks for the summer months.

Please leave your donation of non-perishable food items at your mail box and your letter carrier will pick it up and deliver it to local community outreach centers.

Saturday is 21st Annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive

The 21st Annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive will take place this year on the Saturday before Mother's Day, May 11th. This is the largest one day food drive in the nation, and since it's start has collected over 1.2 billion pounds of food.

All the food collected goes to local organizations that help feed the hungry in our community. This year Advocates to End Domestic Violence, F.I.S.H., and the Ron Wood Center will be participating.
