Carson City ramps up for 2016 Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive
It is again time for the annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. This is the largest one day food drive in the nation, and helps local food banks stay stocked through the summer. All donations stay in the community in which they are collected. Last year we collected over 30,000 pounds of food for our community.
I recently had a chance to tour the food banks at F.I.S.H. and the Ron Wood Center. The staff and volunteers at both locations work so hard to help members of our community with food security and other issues. They service over 2,000 families a month. The support from the community from the community helps them meet these goals.
Please leave a bag of non-perishable food items by your mail box on Saturday, May 14. Your mail carrier will deliver your donation to our local food ban. If you would like we are also accepting donations at the main post office lobby located at 111 S. Roop St.
