Submitted by Jeff Munson on Sun, 07/04/2010 - 12:29amThere was a disturbance near the Legislature Building Saturday afternoon in Carson City. A woman who was apparently angry at some political signs, allegedly threw rocks at three demonstrators.
The news that came across the scanner this July 3 afternoon was that there was a fight involving "protesters" in front of the Legislative Building. Given the political climate these days, it was worth following up.

Alexander Djordjevic died at the scene after he lost control of his Porsche 911 during a sanctioned road racing event north of the Storey and Lyon county lines, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
The 5.2-mile stretch of the two-lane highway had been closed to the public for two days between 8 a.m and 5 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday to facilitate a sanctioned road racing event, according to an NHP press statement.

Those businesses were: Ormsby Club Bar at 600 S. Curry St., Dotty's Casino at 3771 South Carson St., Chevron at 1102 North Carson Street, Rand Convenience Story at 1800 Highway 50 East, AM/PM Arco at 4190 South Carson St., and Casino Fandango at 3800 South Carson St., and Bodines at 5650 South Carson St.
Gibbons to defend prison closing
Submitted by admin on Tue, 06/22/2010 - 2:03pmGov. Jim Gibbons will defend his plan to close Nevada State Prison in Carson City at a Board of Prisons meeting tomorrow afternoon, saying that they do not expect to lay off any employees.
The governor's office has provided the following talking points to defend Gibbons' decision to close NSP, which were made available to Carson Now:
Nevada State Prison in Carson City has approximately 310 full-time employees (all classifications). Of those employees, only 40 percent actually reside in Carson City. The breakdown by percentage is:
New Michael Hohl auto dealerships open

Looks like the Nevada Appeal missed it as well, at least as far as their website is concerned. Hopefully the addition will add some new sales tax revenue to Carson City's coffers.
Carson City man arrested after allegedly breaking into apartment, stealing cigarettes
Submitted by editor on Sun, 06/20/2010 - 8:11amA Carson City man faces burglary and threat charges after he allegedly broke into an apartment, took cigarettes, and threatened to kill the occupant.
Clinton Mathew Carlin, 39, was arrested at 3:29 on Saturday morning. Bail was set at $3,132.
According to the arrest report, deputies responded to the 900 block of East Fifth after dispatch was told there was a man attempting to gain entrance into a home through a window.
Carson City men face felony burglary charges after alleged Mills Park break-in

Christopher Darrell Stehlin, 20, and Darren Hutchins, 19, are being held in Carson City jail on $50,000 bail each. The men were arrested Friday afternoon.
Couple face charges after alleged indecent exposure incident at a Carson City park
Submitted by editor on Fri, 06/18/2010 - 3:52pmA Carson City woman and a South Lake Tahoe man were arrested Thursday and face charges including indecent exposure, disorderly conduct and obstruction, after witnesses reported inappropriate behavior at Mills Park near the playground.
Lisa Maria Ferguson, 41, faces charges of gross misdemeanor indecent exposure and misdemeanor disorderly conduct. She is being held on $2,737 bail. Abel Perez Jr., 28, of South Lake Tahoe, faces disorderly conduct and obstruction charges. Both are misdemeanors. His bail was set at $744.
Carson City teen rescued Saturday from Yuba River

In announcing the June 16, 5 p.m. Chamber Mixer at Geeks of Nevada, at 520 South Curry Street, there's a surreptitious note, in small type, which reads "behind the soon-to-be-opened Ormsby House."

The Carson City micropaving project continues at various locations. Work will occur daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the following locations over the course of the week, including Sunday, weather permitting. A single lane will be maintained with flaggers:
— Koontz Lane from Hillview Drive to Center Drive, and from Carson Street to Curry Street.
— Winnie Lane from Ash Canyon Road to Mountain Street.
— Ormsby Boulevard from King Street to 200 yards north of Washington Street.
