Several drinking related and warrant arrests keep Carson City deputies occupied this weekend

A 37-year-old Carson City man was jailed Saturday after allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol with a small child in the car without a safety seat.

According to the arrest report, a Carson City Sheriff's Office deputy observed the man driving and failing to main his lane of travel and changing directions onto the Carson City freeway without using a signal.

The vehicle then was observed going southbound between Highway 50 East and Fairview Drive, drifting over the broken white line and crossing the right fog lane line, the arrest report states.

Fights, foot chases and felony drug arrests keep Carson City deputies busy over weekend

A 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after a chase through a field near Highway 50 and Fairview Drive.

Hector Cervantes is being held in Carson City Jail without bail on a parole violation charge and $10,428 bail for other charges.

According to the arrest report, Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies responded at 12:31 a.m. to the 2800 block of Century Drive where there had been several people outside a home yelling and screaming. It turned out to be a large house party where several underage people were drinking.

Carson City deputies arrest woman wanted in Texas with $500,000 bail warrant

A 50-year-old Sacramento woman was arrested in Carson City Saturday on a felony fugitive justice warrant out of Texas. Loures Ruano was being held on $500,337 and is awaiting extradition.

According to the arrest report, Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to Raley's in the 3700 block of South Carson Street on a call about a larceny in which two people were detained for shoplifting.

Carson City man arrested on suspicion of felony domestic battery with strangulation

A 20-year-old Carson City man was arrested on suspicion of felony domestic battery with strangulation after allegedly grabbing his girlfriend by the throat, holding her to the point where the woman thought she was going to die, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office.

The suspect was arrested at 4:35 p.m. in the 3300 block of South Carson Street with bail set at $15,352. UPDATE: The charges were later reduced to a misdemeanor.

Carson City deputies stop man after he allegedly drives truck into mail boxes

A man was stopped at around noon Thursday on Arrowhead Drive in Carson City after allegedly driving his truck into mailboxes on Sunrise Drive and then fleeing the scene.

Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies detained the man after two reports came into dispatch beginning at 11:47 a.m. of a man in a gray pickup hitting mailboxes as he was leaving the scene.

When deputies caught up with the driver on Arrowhead Drive, the vehicle had a flat tire. The Carson City Fire Department was called to evaluate the man. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Kit Carson Toastmasters Wins Area Speech Contests

Jim Klipp of Kit Carson Toastmasters in Carson City took top honors at both the International Speech Contest and the Table Topics Contest at the Area Level on March 8.

The International Speech Contests challenges each contestant to present their best five to seven minute speech. Each of the local clubs may select a representative to compete with the winner advancing to the next level. The finals will be held this year in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Suspect in police chase that injured two Carson City deputies to be arraigned March 4

A 32-year-old South Lake Tahoe woman was booked Thursday into Carson City Jail after being extradited from California where she faces felony and gross misdemeanor charges of eluding police and endangerment related to a Jan. 12 police chase that began in Carson City, ended in South Lake Tahoe and injured two Carson City sheriff's office deputies.

Samantha Rose Randazzo is being held on $20,000 bail. Her court arraignment is March 4, 9 a.m. in Carson City. Randazzo allegedly rammed a patrol vehicle and then refused to get out of the SUV she was driving.

Woman jailed on suspicion of DUI after parking lot collision

A 63-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of DUI at 3:22 p.m. in the 500 block of East William Street.

According to the arrest report, officers were dispatched to a grocery store in reference to a possible DUI driver. A witness advised the woman was in a small blue car and that she appeared intoxicated.

Two arrested after large quantity of methamphetamine discovered in motel room

Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies with the Special Enforcement Team discovered a significant amount of methamphetamine — around 60 grams — that resulted in arrests Wednesday at a Carson City motel room.

Jacob Pacheaco, 27, of Carson City, faces charges of level 3 drug trafficking and possession with intent to sell, both felonies and gross misdemeanor destruction of evidence. He is being held on $259,632 bail.

Carson City man jailed on suspicion of domestic battery also had an arrest warrant

A 57-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, 10:25 a.m. in the 900 block of South Carson Street on suspicion of domestic battery and having a confirmed warrant.

According to the arrest report, a Carson City Sheriff's Office deputy was flagged down by security at a casino who advised there was a woman in the parking lot asking for police.

A Carson City pair were arrested Jan. 31, 4:46 p.m. in the area of Highway 50 and Fairview on multiple felony drug charges following a sting operation through the Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team.

A Carson City man was arrested Sunday and faces a felony charge of domestic battery with strangulation.
Jermaine Jordan, 28, is being held on $18,137 bail.

According to the arrest report, Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the 400 block of East Park Street for a fight in progress. While responding, dispatch advised there was a man outside a unit hitting a woman in the head.

Woman admits to stealing rings from Carson City department store

A Gardnerville woman was booked into Carson City Jail on Tuesday with felony warrants for her arrest on suspicion of grand larceny. Sunshine Dawn Workman, 38, was booked into jail at 4:10 p.m. with a bail amount of $17,500.

The Category C felony grand larceny warrant was issued out of Carson City Justice Court on Sept. 5, 2013. A second warrant for a theft charge out of Douglas County's East Fork Township Justice Court was issued Dec. 6, 2013.

Carson City jail inmate faces charge of violating restraining order

A 27-year-old Carson City man was arrested Jan. 18, 1:31 a.m. in the area of North Carson and East Park Street. He faces a felony charge of child endangerment and a misdemeanor charge of DUI.

According to the arrest report, an officer doing routine patrol on North Carson Street at Hot Springs Road observed a silver in color Dodge Durango without a license plate. The officer turned on his overhead emergency lights and conducted a traffic stop at North Carson Street and East Park Street.

Fire Chief: White powder found at Nevada Supreme Court determined to be non-hazardous

UPDATE: Carson City Fire Chief Stacey Giomi reports the powdery substance found in a package on the second floor of the Nevada Supreme Court Building on Thursday is non-hazardous.

He said the two office workers who were isolated have not displayed any symptoms associated with poisoning. As soon as the fire department completes its investigation the matter will be turned over to law enforcement.

The substance was sent inside a letter package and claimed to be anthrax, authorities said.

Chase from Carson City to South Lake Tahoe ends with arrest, two deputies injured

Two Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies were treated and released for minor injuries after a vehicle chase Sunday night that began in Carson City and wound up with a patrol car being rammed in South Lake Tahoe.

Samantha Rose Randazzo, 32, of South Lake Tahoe was arrested on suspicion of felony enhancement, evading, and assault with a deadly weapon. She also faces misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence and driving on a suspended license. Randazzo is being held in the El Dorado County Jail in South Lake Tahoe. Her bail is $112,500.

New Year's holiday period in Carson City results in drug, battery and DUI arrests

A Carson City man was arrested early New Year's morning and faces a felony charge of drug possession with intent to sell after officers recovered more than an ounce of marijuana and a scale to weigh it with the word "work" taped to it.

Paul John Bekakis, 29, was arrested at 3:25 a.m. near Sixth and Carson streets and was booked into Carson City jail on the drug charge. According to the arrest report, officers did a traffic stop suspecting the driver was under the influence. Officers could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the car.

California man arrested on felony drug charge, admits to writing graffiti on bus stop covers

An 18-year-old Concord, Calif., man was booked Friday into Carson City Jail on suspicion of felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor charges related to graffiti after admitting to law officers that he marked up bus stop covers and electrical boxes with a shoe polish pen.

A Carson City man faces a felony charge of shoplifting after being arrested early Friday morning at a convenience store in the 3000 block of North Roop Street.
Tarron Westley Evans, 28, was being held in Carson City Jail on $20,000 bail. A 35-year-old accomplice was arrested on four misdemeanor charges including drug paraphernalia and obstructing an officer.

Red Cross, FISH open warming center at Fuji Park for Carson City area homeless

To provide escape from the frigid temperatures expected overnight and through Monday evening, the American Red Cross and Friends in Service Helping, otherwise known as FISH, have partnered with Carson City to open a warming shelter.
