Carson City sheriff describes tense scene with gunman at Olive Garden restaurant Sunday

At 8:53 Sunday evening, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office was notified of a violent threat at the Olive Garden Restaurant on South Carson Street.

Initial reports indicated that a man, later identified as David Paul Lane had entered the business alone and at some point became agitated, then confronted the manager and staff with a loaded semi-automatic pistol.

Crime Log: Carson City deputies make felony arrests over the weekend

Carson City Sheriff's deputies made several felony arrests this past weekend:

Michael David Oliver, 25, of Ely, was arrested Sunday evening in the 5900 block of Highway 50 East for being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm, a felony. His bail was set at $20,000.

Amber Ruth Shields, 21, currently in detention at Carson City Jail, was arrested Sunday for felony battery on another prisoner. Her bail was set at $20,000.

Man arrested after allegedly drawing gun on manager, chef at Carson City Olive Garden

A 56-year-old Douglas County man was arrested after he allegedly drew a gun and threatened a manager and chef at Olive Garden in Carson City Sunday night.

David Lane, 56, who lives on Mica Drive in Douglas County and is said to have an extensive criminal background, was arrested by Douglas County Sheriff's Office deputies following the incident, reported to Carson City authorities at 8:53 p.m. No one was injured.

Carson City road report for week of July 22-28

Here is the Carson City road construction and maintenance report for the week of July 22-28: Lane closures will continue on Fairview Drive between Carson Street to just east of Edmonds Drive from 8 p.m. Sunday, July 21, through 6 a.m. on Monday, July 22. Detours will be signed.

On Wednesday, July 24, S. Lompa Lane will be closed between Fairview Drive and Edmonds Drive for maintenance. Detours will be signed, but business access will be maintained.

Carson City man arrested for domestic battery, baby and mother bruised after being hit with pillow

A Carson City man was arrested and faces charges including domestic battery and gross misdemeanor child abuse after using a pillow to repeatedly beat on his girlfriend in which their baby also sustained a bruise to the face, authorities said.

Miguel Angel Paredes, 23, was arrested at 4:08 a.m. Saturday in the 2000 block of Lone Mountain Drive. He faces a gross misdemeanor charge of abuse or neglect of a child, two misdemeanor charges of domestic battery and a misdemeanor charge of obstructing an officer.

Carson City authorities make drug, battery arrests

A 28-year-old Carson City man was arrested for domestic battery second offense on Tuesday, July 9, 4:58 p.m.

Officers responded to the residence after dispatch received a call of a domestic battery. Upon arrival, officers learned the man and his girlfriend were in the process of moving their stuff from a storage facility after they had been evicted, according to the arrest report.

Carson City road construction report for week of July 8-14

Here is the Carson City road construction and maintenance report for Monday, July 8 through July 14.

Beginning Monday, July 8, there will be nightly lane closures on South Carson Street between Koontz Lane and US Highway 50 W (Spooner Junction) between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. Once the work on Carson Street is complete, Frontage Road will be permanently closed from Arthur Street to just south of Snyder Avenue. However, access will be maintained for businesses and residences. This will likely occur mid to late-week.

July 4 fireworks spectacular over Carson City light up the night

Fire crews battle 25-acre Tarnahan wildfire southeast of Carson City

UPDATE 4:21PM July 4: The Tarnahan Fire burning southeast of Carson City is 10 percent contained. No structures are threatened at this time. After GPS of the area was made, the fire was downsized at noon to 25 acres, according to Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center. Sierra Front had reported about 100 acres early this morning but re-adjusted the figure based on an overhead GPS reading.
Wind conditions are light.

Carson City felony arrests include probation violation; battery by a prisoner

A 21-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Tuesday morning and faces a felony charge of being in violation of conditions set in his parole and probation.

Brian Angel-Ramirez is being held without bail until a court hearing. According to the Carson City Sheriff's Office arrest report, deputies were sent to the area of Goni and Arrowhead at 11:31 p.m. in reference to a person passed out in the roadway.

California women jailed for credit card fraud face additional felony charges

Two California women jailed earlier this week in a credit card fraud scheme, face additional felony charges including burglary and being in possession of forgery devices.

Markeisha Yvette Orviss, 22, and Kamesha Joann Cooper, 24, of Pittsburg, Calif., remain in jail and face the additional charges.

Car show at Johnny Rockets Carson City to benefit First Christian Church youth

The fourth annual First Christian Church Car Show will be held July 13 in the parking lot of Johnny Rockets in Carson City at Carson Lanes Retail Center. Organizers say there may be up to 100 classic cars on display for the event.

The fundraiser provides support for Youth ministries at First Christian Church. Check-in begins at noon with awards set for 6 p.m.

Carson City deputies arrest California women in credit card scheme

Two California women stopped by Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies on Tuesday have admitted to a scheme of using stolen credit cards to buy hundreds of dollars worth of gift cards.

Markeisha Yvette Orviss, 22, and Kamesha Joann Cooper, 24, of Pittsburg, Calif., were arrested by Carson City sheriff's patrol officers in the 3900 block of South Carson Street at 12:15 p.m.

Carson City loan manager jailed; admits to stealing $4,200 and taking it to casino

A 34-year-old Dayton woman faces a felony embezzlement charge after she admitted to authorities that she stole $4,200 from a Carson City loan agency that she managed and then spent a portion of the money at a local casino.

Tonya Ann Ramirez was jailed Wednesday after an interview with Carson City Sheriff's Office investigators which led to the confession. She also told authorities she had a gambling problem and had filed a false police report with the Lyon County Sheriff's Office in an attempt to conceal her actions.

Care Flight ordered after vehicle crashes into building

UPDATE: At least one person suffered serious injury after a vehicle crashed into a vacant building at 3911 South Carson Street in Carson City. A Care Flight air ambulance was ordered to the scene of the accident, reported after 11 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The injured person was extricated from the vehicle. The Care Flight landed in the parking lot area of the building where there are several tenants. The victim was transported to Renown Medical Center in Reno. A second occupant of the vehicle was able to get out safely.

Carson City man jailed after officers find meth stashed in toy action figure

A 25-year-old Carson City man faces felony drug charges after a vehicle search netted, among other things, methamphetamine that was stashed inside a toy action figure.

Officers arrested Jesse Silis-Teran at 5:35 p.m. Thursday near Humboldt and Long streets. According to the arrest report, officers patrolling the area heard a group of people yelling at each other and met with three individuals at a parked car.

Woman hits parked car, jailed for driving under influence of drugs

A 24-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Monday, May 20, 1:31 p.m. at the intersection of Division and Spear streets after hitting a parked car while allegedly under the influence of drugs.

Officers report the woman slurred her speech and had trouble balancing when they interviewed her about the accident. According to the arrest report, the woman told officers she was diabetic. Fire personnel on scene reported her blood sugar was slightly elevated but not to where it would cause a problem, the report states.

Man jailed for indecent exposure after allegedly urinating near door of casino

A 33-year-old Carson City man faces a gross misdemeanor charge of indecent exposure after allegedly urinating near the west door entrance of a Carson City casino early Monday morning.

Officers were called to the casino, located in the 2700 block of East William Street, at 2:40 a.m. after security reported an intoxicated man who wouldn't leave the premise. Two witnesses noted the man urinated on the side of the building, and it was also seen on casino surveillance.

Car Show Sunday at Michael Hohl Motors to raise money for Honor Flight program

The organization that sends local World War II veterans to Washington, D.C. to see the monuments built in their honor will hold a car show Sunday in Carson City.

Honor Flight Nevada offers the free car show at Michael Hohl Motors at 3700 South Carson Street in Carson City from 9am to 2pm. It's $25 to get in and includes entry, a t-shirt, lunch and a dash plaque.

Man jailed for waving machete in dispute over Jeep

A Carson City man faces a felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly swinging a machete in a dispute with his brother and another man over a vehicle.

Jesus Guardron-Patino was jailed May 14 after being arrested at 9:25 p.m. in the 200 block of Jeanell Drive.

According to the arrest report, officers responded to the area after a report called in of a man hitting the ground and a brick building with a sword. Officers detained Guardron-Patino and made contact with two men, one of whom is the brother of Guardron-Patino.

Carson City men jailed after getting into fight over marijuana deal gone bad

Two Carson City men were arrested and face felony drug and weapons charges after fighting each other over a marijuana drug deal that soured.

Bob L. Cryderman, 56, and Vincent Morenz, 49, were arrested in the 600 block of South Roop Street on May 10 at 8:37 p.m. According to the arrest report, officers responded to the Roop address on a report of battery with a deadly weapon. Upon arrival officers met with Cryderman in an apartment who appeared moderately battered. He stated that he was attacked and beaten by Morenz who lived in a nearby apartment and that Morenz took his .38 revolver.

Carson City man jailed for felony indecent exposure

A Carson City man faces a felony charge of indecent exposure for allegedly masturbating in a parked vehicle outside a clothing outlet store in the 4200 block of South Carson Street.

Two taken by CareFlight after Carson Street crash

UPDATE: Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's patrol officers were called Wednesday afternoon to an accident involving two vehicles at Carson and Colorado streets. Two were sent by CareFlight to the hospital for non life-threatening injuries.

Carson City deputies make several court warrant arrests

Carson City sheriff's deputies have made several court violation arrests since Monday. The arrests have been both misdemeanor and felony related. Arrests have also been made that involved domestic abuse, theft, driving under the influence of drugs and huffing.

Deputies arrested a 28-year-old transient with outstanding felony and gross misdemeanor warrants. Melanie Huddleston, was arrested early Wednesday morning, 3:16 a.m. at a casino in the 3800 block of Highway 50 East.

Carson City woman with stun gun in her purse jailed on felony drug charges

A 42-year-old Carson City woman was jailed Saturday and faces two felony drug charges and a charge of being a felon in possession of an electronic stun gun.

Patricia Louise Barkley, was arrested at 12:11 p.m. April 20 on East Nye. According to the arrest report, officers stopped a vehicle based on information that the owner faced a warrant for his arrest.

Lawmakers seek to reduce Nevada's VA claim backlog

U.S. Senators Harry Reid and Dean Heller joined representatives of Nevada's delegation of U.S. House of Representatives — Joe Heck (NV-03), Dina Titus (NV-01), and Steven Horsford (NV-04) — in sending a letter to U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Under Secretary for Benefits Allison Hickey and Reno VA Regional Office Director Edward Russell, offering help in addressing Nevada’s backlog of VA claims.
