The 16th Motor Officer Challenge kicks off Friday at 7 a.m. at Mills Park. Lace up the shoes for a Friday morning walk at East Silver Saddle Ranch hosted by Muscle Powered.
Carson City Sheriff’s Office hosts 16th annual ‘Extreme Motor Officer Training Challenge’ at Mills Park

The training event was open to current certified motor officers and the public for spectating. Motor officers were training, riding and discussing riding techniques with various motor instructors.

Instead of hot weather, Mother Nature has decided to cool things down some as we head into the weekend with highs in the low 80s today and the low 70s for the first day of summer. Events, activities and more are lined up today including the first day of the three-day police officer motorcycle challenge at Mills Park, morning walks, Cruise Night at Empire Ranch Golf Course and live music outdoors at Living the Good Life.

Temperatures are expected to actually lower toward the end of the week. Events around town Tuesday include a Muscle Powered walk, hike and bike ride, yoga, exercises for the mind and body hosted by the Carson City Emblem Club, political gatherings, art activities and more.

All boys and girls interested in basketball are encouraged to join the fun! Camp includes individual skill building, shooting competitions, team games, camp speakers, and camp prizes. A camp t-shirt is included with paid registration.

There's Flag Day ceremonies at the Nevada Veterans Memorial and at the Elks Lodge. The Stewart Father’s Day Powwow happens Friday to Sunday and features hundreds of American Indian dancers, drummers artists and cultural enthusiasts. Lace up the tennis shoes for the Eastside Historical tour of the capital city hosted by Muscle Powered. Journey of Hope returns to Western Nevada College at 5 p.m. to settle into the evening. Open Mic Night at A to Zen will cap-off an eventful Friday heading into the weekend.

Activities lined up include art classes, a hike designed for tots through Carson City Parks and Recreation, a Ninja aerobic class at Yaple's Ballroom and you can hear local author CW Bayer talk about three of his books on area history at Browsers Corner Book Store. Every Tuesday evening from 5:30-700 pm. Rides are open to all skill levels. This is a "no drop" ride so no one is left behind. All riders must carry water and have a mountain bike in safe working condition, helmet, closed toed shoes, spare tube, pump and tools to change a flat tire. Carson City to receive historical marker in honor of Felice Cohn, one of the world's most famous suffragettes

In commemoration, the William G. Pomeroy Foundation through the National Collaborative for Women's History Sites has offered to gift to Carson City, a Suffrage Centennial Marker commemorating the people, places or things instrumental to women gaining the right to vote in the United States in 1920.

WNC Continuing Education offers Watercolor Exploration class

Senator Square: Carson High School's Carneta yearbook staff have successful year

At the end of the week before Spring Break, at 8:30 p.m., the final pages were submitted, and the book was officially finished. After months of interviewing, photographing, and editing, the book is currently being printed by Walsworth Publishing Co., in Marceline, Kansas.
