Submitted by Jeff Munson on Mon, 07/27/2020 - 2:53pmCARSON CITY — Undeterred by nation’s prevailing real-world biological hazard of coronavirus, the Nevada National Guard’s 92nd Civil Support Team was declared fully trained and validated by U.S. Army North evaluators at the conclusion of the “Quenching Steel” exercise July 23 here in the Silver State’s capital. The results of the evaluation were released July 24.

The Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for Mono County, Mineral and Southern Lyon counties, Hawthorne, Yerington, Smith Valley, Mina, Schurz, Fernley, Fallon, Lovelock, Silver Springs, Nixon, and Imlay. Carson City, and Carson Valley are not in the Wind Advisory area.

With the uncertainty surrounding how long the stay-at-home distance learning would be in place, LCSD Nutrition Services and LCSD Transportation quickly devised a plan to keep the children of the Lyon County community fed —this included any child under the age of 18, even if they were not a student of LCSD.

NHP investigates fatal crash in Mound House on Highway 50
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Fri, 04/24/2020 - 4:24pmOn Wednesday, April 22, 2020, at approximately 3:42 PM, NHP Troopers were dispatched to a serious injury crash involving two vehicles on US-50 and Highlands Drive in Mound House.
The preliminary investigation shows a green 1999 Honda CR-V and red 2011 Subaru Legacy were traveling eastbound on US-50. The Legacy slowed to make a right turn onto Highlands Drive.
For unknown reasons, the CR-V crossed into the travel lane occupied by the Legacy and struck the left rear of the vehicle.
