The annual Carson Girls Softball fundraiser for the Sharks Tournament Softball teams will be held on May 15th starting at 6PM at the Fuji Park Exhibition hall. For a $20.00 donation you will get all you can eat bratwurst and all you can drink beer! There will be a silent auction, raffle and door prizes from local business plus it’s a great time. All proceeds go to the Sharks tournament season and fund the program keeping the overall costs down for the girls in our community.

The Rotary Club of Carson City and High Sierra Brewing Company bring you the Fourth Annual Carson City Beer and Pizza Championships at the Carson Mall, Saturday, April 25. The event starts at 5:30 p.m. and will run until 9:30 p.m. Join local Rotarians, business owners, and other Carson City movers and shakers. Local celebrities and community leaders are coming together to raise money and awareness for homeless pets! Heels & Hounds, a premier fashion show and champagne brunch, will take place on Sunday, April 19 at Atlantis Casino Resort Spa from 10am until 2pm.

Please join us for our 2015 Community Leader of the Year Ceremony and Benefit honoring our First Lady Kathleen Sandoval for her service and dedication to youth and families in Carson City.

First Lady Sandoval has worked as an advocate of foster youth, children and families in-need in Carson City and Northern Nevada. Ron Wood Family Resource Center will honor the First Lady on May 16 from 2pm – 6pm at the Governor’s Mansion.

The Greater Nevada Credit Union branch at CHS recently sponsored a Mural Contest open to all Carson High Students. All entries were judged and the 1st place winner was Athena Favero, who received a $200 Amazon Gift Card. Second place and a $100 Amazon Gift Card went to Michael Rose. As part of the contest, Athena painted her winning design "A Senator’s Road To Success” on the hallway wall outside the GNCU branch at CHS. Students and staff are encouraged to come by and see her winning mural at Carson High School. Congratulations to our winners, and thanks to all the students who entered.
 

The sun is shining, the flowers blooming, the birds chirping, the wind gusting, and Carson City is hopping! Easter fun can be found this weekend at the annual EGGstravaganza at Carson Tahoe Medical Center, the Children’s Museum, the Carson Mall, and the Brewery Arts Center.

Head over to Mills Park for the Vietnam Veterans Day Celebration, complete with military vehicles, exhibits, and more. For demonstrations from soldiers with an even older history, the Nevada Civil War Volunteers will be in Dayton Saturday.

The Charity Golf Tournament of the Spring is almost here. The second Kilroy Klassic Holes for Heroes fundraising tournament for Honor Flight Nevada will be on Saturday, April 25, 2015 with an 8:30am shotgun start at Silver Oak Golf Center in Carson City.

The tournament is an adjusted handicap 4 person scramble format that offers fun for golfers of any skill level.

The Wildland Firefighters from Eastern Sierra Camp of the Nevada Division of Forestry are having a Silent Auction Fundraising Event for a local woman and Moms on the Run on March 28, 2015 from 6 pm to 9 pm at Living the Good Life 1480 N. Carson St. Carson City, NV. The Silent Auction has some great items, like Hotel & Resort stays, Dinner & Movie packages, Gift certificates and much more. Also, there will be a 50/50 Raffle for a cash prize! The first $200 raised will be donated to the Moms on the Run-Runway for Life.

Now considered a Carson City spring tradition, the Rotary Club of Carson City will play host to its fourth annual Carson City Beer and Pizza Championships at the Carson Mall on Saturday, April 25.

The community is welcomed to taste, judge and enjoy finely crafter beer brewed from around the region and piping hot fresh pizza tossed and baked from local restaurants. Sixteen respected craft beer brewers and microbreweries will offer their top selections to attendees as they compete for awards during the Championships.

This is a first for any Dayton School. This will be a night of amazing talent, food, auctions, and prizes! From standup comedians to singers to musicians, it will be a night to remember.

The Dayton Township Kiwanis (DTK) will be holding their annual Casino Night on March 7 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Dayton Community Center on Pike Street in Old Town Dayton.

Where to start? This weekend is chock-full of options. The local 4-H club is hosting their annual Fabric and Rummage Sale at Fuji Park. This casual and crazy fundraiser that runs from 6 to 10 p.m. features great food, music, dancing, raffle prizes and a silent auction.

For the last six years, Carson High School has held an alumni night at the Carson-Douglas basketball game in which alumni are recognized and celebrated. It’s a chance for alumni to come back and visit the old stomping grounds, support the Senators and a chance for us to celebrate contributions and the lives of CHS alumni. The Alumni games will be held February 13 against Douglas Tigers.

Featured films will include exciting outdoor adventures, environmental battles and inspirational stories of people making a difference. The Film Festival will take place on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at the MontBleu Showroom.

February 13 and 14, Carson City women will take the stage in support of Advocates to End Domestic Violence by performing Eve Ensler’s groundbreaking monologue play, “The Vagina Monologues” in the Performance Hall at the Brewery Arts Center.

This compelling show takes a look at the funny, fantastic, and occasionally frightening world of being female. It’s a journey of self-discovery, empowerment, abuse, and self-questioning staged to benefit a local charity that houses, counsels, and works on the front lines to protect victims of abuse in Carson City.

The Carson High School Choral Program will have its Madrigal Dinner on Feb. 14 at 6 p.m. Tickets are $20 before February 1st and $25 after Feb. 1. A Madrigal Dinner or Madrigal Feast is an American form of dinner theater often held by schools.

What's all the buzz about? The Mason Valley Beekeepers are hosting their 5th annual conference on Friday and Saturday, February 27 and 28, 2015 at Pioneer Crossing in Yerington, Nevada. The featured conference speaker is Randy Oliver, a world renowned "scientific beekeeper" from California.

V-Day is a global movement to end violence against women and girls. Every year V-Day invites activists in colleges, communities, high schools, or youth groups around the world to present select benefit events during and leading up to V-Season (February 1-April 30). The purpose of these events is to raise awareness about violence against women and girls as well as raise money (100% of the proceeds must be donated) for local beneficiaries that are working to end violence.

The Lyon County Republicans will hold their annual Lincoln Day Dinner on February 7, 2015 at The Boys & Girls Club, 124 North Main Street in Yerington. No-host cocktails will begin at 5:30 p.m. and a buffet dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. There will be a gun drawing, a 50/50 drawing, a live auction and a silent auction.
