NDOW allowing 20 black bears to be hunted; Demonstration planned in Reno
Submitted by editor on Mon, 09/04/2017 - 12:05pmOn September 15, 2017 the annual Nevada bear hunt season opens, and this year 45 hunters have been issued tags to participate in the season that lasts until Dec. 1, or until the quota of 20 black bears has been met, according to the Nevada Department of Wildlife. The quota in 2016 was 41 bears.

Nevada Justice Association Teams Up With Assemblywoman Amber Joiner for Backpack Drive
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Fri, 09/18/2015 - 3:38pmOn Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015, the Nevada Justice Association (NJA) – a statewide non-profit organization of trial lawyers – teamed up with Assemblywoman Amber Joiner to deliver backpacks and other school supplies to the students at Glenn Duncan STEM Academy.
Throughout the month of August, NJA members collected various items, including backpacks, notebooks, writing utensils and cleaning supplies, to help students be as prepared as possible for the new school year. The drive was led by “Trial Lawyers Care,” the community outreach arm for the Nevada Justice Association.

Objective and Outcome: This school is in need of the public’s assistance to bring this Board into lawful compliance. A status this Board has not enjoyed since May of 2013.

Three arrested on felony charges related to burglary of fifth wheel trailer
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Fri, 10/03/2014 - 12:56pmThree people were arrested Thursday, each facing felony charges related to a burglary that happened at the site of a fifth wheel travel trailer located off of Brunswick Canyon, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Arrested were Michelle Rene Salas, 40, Danielle Marie Abella, 33, each facing charges of burglary and possession of stolen property, and Brandon Arlo Johnson, 35, who was arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property.

He will undoubtedly have some stories that include Bill the Lion, his elephant Mingo, surviving World Wars I and II, and his six custom Duesenberg luxury cars.
