A beloved, time-honored activity is being brought to the Carson City community this summer in the form of free outdoor movies.

Carson City Soroptimist will feature Stephen Neff, founder of locally-owned Allevia Living Home Health, during its Program Meeting on Wednesday, July 25, from noon until 1 pm, at Glen Eagles Restaurant.

Carson City Classic Cinema Club will Present "Bride of Frankenstein" with Boris Karloff on Tuesday, August 7 at the Brewery Arts Center. In this early horror film masterpiece, Dr. Frankenstein and his monster both turn out to be alive, not killed as previously believed.

CARSON CITY — In light of the latest research indicating that about 80 percent of cardiac events can be prevented, Carson Tahoe Health is offering several low-cost HeartSmart screenings to the community.

Carson City Classic Cinema Club will meet again April 3 for a viewing of "Lawrence of Arabia." Peter O'Toole stars as T.E. Lawrence, a British officer who is sent to Arabia in 1917.

General Admission $5; Senior/Student $3; Free to members. This is a true Epic film, which will start at 5:30pm. Trivia will be played during intermission.

It will be featured at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall 511 West King Street, Carson City. For additional refreshments, Expresso Yourself will stay open through intermission.

I’m going to apologize right now. I can’t anticipate what this storm system will throw at us, so some of these planned events could get cancelled. The Carson City Classic Cinema Club is a non-profit group that meets monthly to enjoy a classic film, delve into American Cinematic history, and raise money to help youth participate in the arts.

Carson City Soroptimist will feature recipients of some of its annual Awards and Scholarships during its January Program Meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 24, from noon until 1 pm, at Glen Eagles.
