Myers has covered the Nevada political scene on television and in print for decades, and that depth of experience is evidenced by the historical context he brings to his reporting of contemporary politics.

Ray Hagar of Nevada NewsMakers will be the featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon. The long-time political reporter at the Reno Gazette Journal, Hagar retired in 2015 after a 38-year career of full-time journalism, but has continued his 15 year association with Sam Shad co-hosting Nevada NewsMakers on television.

This event is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Monday, March the 25th, in the banquet room of Carson City's Round Table, on Retail Drive just off College Parkway.

Her teleconferenced presentation will spotlight AB186, legislation currently under consideration which if enacted will ratify the Agreement Among the States to Elect the President by National Popular Vote. Judy Welch, program coordinator for the League of Women Voters of Northern Nevada, will moderate the discussion locally.

Tom Blake, NETworX Program Manager at the Capital City CIRCLES Initiative will be the featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon. An Anglican priest, Blake came to Carson City from Muncie, Indiana, where he served for 13 years as pastor of Grace Episcopal Church.

James DeHaven, who covers Northern Nevada and statewide politics for the Reno Gazette Journal, will be the featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon.

A Dayton, Nevada, native, DeHaven is the winner of the 2015 James Foley Medill Medal for Courage in Journalism and a two-time recipient of investigative reporting awards from the Nevada Press Association, which acknowledged his work on stories uncovering fraud and tenant intimidation at a low-income housing complex, as well as a previously unreported backlog of parolees in the Nevada prison system.

Lena Frias, Nevada Rural Housing Authority's Director of Rental Services, will be the featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon. NRHA's mission is to create affordable housing opportunities in all 15 of Nevada's rural counties and rural areas of Clark and Washoe Counties. It accomplishes this mission through homeownership programs, rental services and community development initiatives.

Rob Hooper, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Nevada Development Authority, will be the featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon. NNDA is responsible for economic development in Nevada's Sierra Region — Carson City as well as Douglas, Lyon and Storey counties.

University of Nevada, Reno, economics Professor Elliott Parker will be the featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon.

Dr. Parker's presentation, “Economic Recovery in Nevada,” will use charts and graphs to explain the impact of the Great Recession on Nevada’s economy, tracing changes in economic indicators such as housing prices, unemployment, household income and wages from 2008 to 2018.

This event is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Monday, February 4, in the banquet room of Carson City's Round Table Pizza on Retail Drive just off College Parkway.

Doug Goodman, founder of Nevadans for Election Reform, will be the featured speaker at Monday's luncheon sponsored by the Democratic Men's Committee of Carson City.

Goodman's group advocates for replacing primary elections with a ranked-choice system in which voters would select three candidates in order of preference. The candidate receiving the least votes would be eliminated from the count, with his or her preferences distributed to the other candidates, a process that would be repeated until one achieves a majority.

Schools and most all state, local and national government offices are closed for the day. Ahead, skies are clearing and the storm overnight has begun to move out. After 10 a.m. the National Weather services says we will have sunny skies with a high of 39.

Jo Etta Brown, executive vice president of the Alliance for Retired Americans and a senior member of the Nevada Commission for Women, will be the featured speaker at the Martin Luther King Day luncheon sponsored by the Democratic Men's Committee of Carson City.

Ms. Brown's presentation will feature a review of Dr. King's legacy as an advocate for peace and social justice, the mostly forgotten story of Nevada as "the Mississippi of the West," and the little-known history of African Americans in Carson City and Carson Valley.

Diane Baker, now serving as Carson City's acting library director, will be the featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon. Her presentation will feature the many resources, programs and activities available at the library.

A long-time Nevadan who has worked with libraries across the state, Ms. Baker will be highlighting the phenomenal resources our library has on offer for the community. She has extensive experience in library operations and management with a demonstrated history of working in the multiple types of libraries.

Dr. Vincent R. Solis, president of Western Nevada College, will be the featured speaker at Monday's Carson City Democratic luncheon. A life-long educator with more than 25 years of service in higher education, Dr. Solis began his tenure at WNC on July 1, 2018. He welcomes this opportunity to speak about ongoing programs as well as future plans.

Nevada historian CW Bayer will be the featured speaker at a New Year's Eve luncheon sponsored by Carson's Democratic Men's Committee. The topic of will be "William Ormsby and the founding of the Nevada Territory."

This event is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Monday, December 31, in the banquet room of Carson City's Round Table on Retail Drive just off College Parkway. Admission is free and no donations are requested.

This presentation will simply be an opportunity for Carsonites to learn more about the legacy of this little-known but fascinating Nevada historical figure. All are welcome.

Dee Dee Foremaster, executive director of the Rural Center for Independent Living and Do Drop In day refuge for the homeless and mentally ill, will be the featured speaker at Monday's Carson City Democratic luncheon. The topic of her presentation will be "Frozen Out: Why Carson's shrinking supply of affordable housing has put the city's most vulnerable at the mercy of cold weather and cold hearts."

Jill Derby, former Democratic congressional candidate, one-time Chair of the Nevada State Democratic Party, and long-time Chair of the of the NSHE Board of Regents, will be the featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon. The topic of her presentation is Gerrymandering: Why state legislative races will matter as much in 2020 as races for the White House and Congress.

Kurt Kuznicki, Associate Director of the Friends of Nevada Wilderness, will be the featured speaker at Monday's Carson City Democratic luncheon.

Jim Peckham, Executive Director of Friends In Services Helping (FISH), will be the featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon.

Rural Northern Nevada’s largest and most complete social services program, FISH provides food, clothing, shelter and medical aid to the homeless, hungry and underemployed within our community, with the objective of helping families and individuals become self-sufficient.

Hannah McDonald, Executive Director at Partnership Carson City, will be the featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon.

Wendy Simons, Deputy Director of Wellness at the Nevada Department of Veterans Services, will be the featured speaker at the Carson Democrats' Veteran's Day luncheon. The program will include a photographic preview of the soon-to-open Northern Nevada State Veterans Home.

Kyle Roerink, Communications Director at Nevadans for a Clean Energy Future, will be the featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon. Mr. Roerink will be making final arguments in favor of Question 6, the Renewable Energy Standards Initiative, and will be prepared to field questions on the future of renewable energy in Nevada.

Stacie Wilke-McCulloch, Carson City School District Board of Trustees Vice President, will be the featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon. This event is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 29, in the banquet room of Carson City's Round Table Pizza, on Retail Drive just off College Parkway. All are welcome.
