Taste of Downtown, live music, history talks, BMX and more: Carson City region readies for jam-packed weekend

As we head into the final stretch of the week, events around the Carson City region are lined up for the next three days, including museum activities, outdoor concerts, a car cruise Friday at Carson Mall, athletic events, a Carson High School class of 1979 reunion, the Taste of Downtown on Saturday and much more.

University of Nevada, Reno updates status of Argenta Hall explosion

Since last week, when the State Fire Marshal announced preliminary findings regarding the cause of the explosion that damaged Argenta and Nye Halls on July 5, the University has made significant progress in several areas regarding the students affected, making arrangements for the upcoming Fall 2019 semester and planning for the longer-term. Near-drowning victim saved by Good Samaritans, Marine 9 Crew in Tahoe

Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam is praising the extraordinary efforts of several Good Samaritans and Sheriff’s Office deputies who worked together to help save the life of a near drowning victim at Thunderbird Beach in Lake Tahoe last Friday.

“A life was on the line and people stepped up,” Sheriff Balaam said.

Wylie Animal Rescue Foundation (WARF) is hosting a casual al fresco Yappy Hour on Tuesday, July 9, from 4-6 PM at Genoa’s Sierra Chef. Canine companions are invited to attend. WARF is raising awareness about its new Animal Sanctuary under construction in Stagecoach. Yappy Hour is open to the public and admission is free.
