Calling all Artists: NAA's Judged Nevada Day Exhibit Seeks Paintings and Photographs
Submitted by Danielle Cook on Thu, 10/02/2014 - 5:06amThe Nevada Artists Association invites local and regional artists and photographers to enter its 64th Annual "Nevada Day" Art Exhibit at Carson City's Brewery Arts Center NAA Gallery. This judged exhibition opens Monday October 27th and runs through December. The show is open to all Northern Nevada and California artist and photographers, NAA membership is not required.
Sesquicentennial themed corn mazes featured across Northern Nevada

Tours will be at various times throughout September, October and November. Six different Nevada farms will host a wide array of activities and games including corn mazes, petting zoos, pumpkin patches, prizes, and more.

NevadaRecycles, a program through NDEP, is committed to reducing waste and increasing recycling opportunities. Its mission is to preserve and enhance the environment of the state in order to protect public health, sustain healthy ecosystems, and contribute to a vibrant economy. It was established in 1992.
Recycled art contest materials available Oct. 3 at Bryan Building in Carson City

Recyclables, including plastic bottles, newspapers, aluminum cans and steel cans, may be picked-up in the lobby of the Bryan Building, 901 S. Stewart Street, Carson City, on Friday, Oct. 3. Friends of Brooks Foundation Golf Tournament at Empire Golf Course, Carson City

They appreciate the love and support shown them by friends, family, and local businesses, and have been raising money for Northern Nevadan families since.

Carson City dog lovers unite Saturday for successful CASI 5K-9 fun run
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Sat, 09/20/2014 - 10:35amDog lovers and their pooches by the dozens turned out Saturday for the third annual 5K9 run and walk at River View Park in Carson City.
The event was a fundraiser for the Carson Animal Services Initiative, also known as CASI, which brought out canines that ranged from the yipping pint-sized and standard to those with muscle mass and brawn that packed hearty barks. Christy Works was the winner with her dog Shags.
Activities planned by CASI beginning with Saturday's 5K9 fun run

The event will take place at the River View Park at the end of east Fifth Street. Registration starts at 8:15 a.m. Start time is at 9 a.m. Registration fee is $25 for the first person, additional family members are $15. Please note that dogs must be leashed at all times.

Statewide recycled art contest underway
Submitted by editor on Mon, 09/15/2014 - 2:27pmThe Nevada Recycles program has partnered with Las Vegas Sands Corp. to support a statewide recycled art contest to increase Nevadans’ awareness and interest in recycling.
Entrants must be Nevada residents and projects must be composed of used recyclable materials. Submission of entry form and photos of artwork are due by Oct. 31, 2014.
In addition to a $200 prize to the first place class project, Las Vegas Sands Corp. will provide first, second and third ($250, $100, and $50 respectively) prizes in four categories: Kindergarten-grade 5, grades 6-8, grades 9-12 and Adult.

General Motors Dealership Celebrates 30 Years in Carson City

Originally, the dealership carried four lines: Oldsmobile, Buick, Cadillac and GMC Trucks. Chevrolet was added in 2007. Michael Hohl Motor Company is the longest serving General Motors dealership in Northern Nevada and the largest full line General Motors dealership in the state.

The tournament is at Eagle Valley Golf Course and the format will be handicapped 4 player teams on the west course and 4 player scramble on the east course. There will be a continental breakfast ahead of the tournament, which begins at 8:30 a.m.
