Wednesday, August 10: Things to do in Carson City

The usual options of Geeks Who Drink Trivia at Westside Pour House, Country Line Dancing at Carson Lanes, and the Farmers Market in McFadden Plaza still apply. Throw in some great music on the veranda at Adele's, a Ukulele Jam at Mormon Station in Genoa, and a Vintage Chevy Meet-up in Virginia City and things get a little more random. Crossroads Lounge is hosting their last Wednesday night karaoke this week; a new night and time will be announced soon. Carson Hot Springs invites all Veterans and Military members to come swim for free today.

Kids won’t want to miss the Bike Safety Rodeo in Silver City. Enjoy the Mile High Jazz Band this evening in the Comma Coffee Courtyard: special guest vocalists Cindee LeVal, Jakki Ford, and June Joplin make this a ‘don’t miss’ event. Wander up Longview Trail with Muscle Powered for some amazing views. It’s going to be a beautiful day, keep reading for all the ways you can enjoy our capital valley.

Jazz and Beyond brings a free outdoor concert to the Minnesota Street Stage at the Brewery Arts Center this evening. It’s the Carson Dreamers tonight, but you can go HERE for all of the upcoming music festival events. The Nevada Arts Council welcomes Justin Favela’s new exhibit to their OXS Gallery with a reception and talk by the artist.

Feeding Pets of the Homeless Leads Seventh National Give a Dog a Bone Pet Food Drive

The national organization, Pets of the Homeless asks the public to locate a donation site in their community by visiting petsofthehomeless.org. Donations of pet food should be taken to one of the identified, local sites.

Pets of the Homeless Free Wellness Clinic

The event is Saturday, May 21, 2016 beginning at 9 a.m. at FISH, 138 East Long St., Carson City.

This national organization is dedicated to helping the homeless population provide for their pets through annual food and supply donations. The food drive generated 700 more pounds than last year's donations.

Beginning now through Dec. 31, the sale of superior olive oils from Portugal and 25-year-old balsamic vinegar from Modena Italy are available for sale at Downtown Coin, 111 West Telegraph Street in Carson City. Downtown Coin is open Tuesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

It’s their opening weekend and they are offering free car washes and raising funds for the Carson City Community Counseling Center.
If you consider yourself adventurous, then the Rocky Mountain Oyster Fry in Virginia City is for you. It’s not nicknamed the Testicle Festival for nothing! If you need some liquid courage, take part in the Ball Breaker Saloon Crawl. The annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade heads down C Street at noon.
Carson High School Senior Project: Give a Dog a Bone

The donated pet food and supplies will be delivered to FISH’s food bank for distribution to the homeless and disadvantaged in our community.

Senator Square: Carson High senior Caden Lehman wins national rodeo event
Submitted by editor on Sun, 10/26/2014 - 10:06amCaden Lehman, a senior at Carson High School, an officer for the Capitol FFA program, and an officer in the Douglas-Carson High School Rodeo Club, recently had his biggest win doing what he loves. He is involved in Team Roping and Calf Roping and is a member of the American Cowboys Team Roping Association.
Recently at the ACTRA National Finals in Reno at the Livestock Events Center, Caden won the Super 7 National Championship, landing him and his partner, Jack Curry of Gardnerville, each new Royal T 3-horse trailers, buckles, and $10,000 cash.

Your donations are to provide pet food for the homeless in our community, Pets also need to eat. Evergreen Gene's is also collecting food donations and clothing donations for the Do Drop In Center that provides food and clothes as well as other assistance to the homeless in our community. High Desert Horsemen 'Trail Trial' set for Sept. 14
