Pets of the Homeless

Pets of the Homeless, the only national nonprofit organization focused on feeding and providing emergency veterinary care to pets of homeless people, is looking to expand its national network of veterinarians to provide emergency veterinary care.

Reno, NV – Pets of the Homeless is sponsoring Galena Veterinary Hospital to participate in this year’s Project Homeless Connect 2018. Dr. Ford along with staff and volunteers from Pets of the Homeless will be offering a basic exam, vaccinations and nail trims to attendees on January 30, 2018 at the Reno Event Center. Pets of the Homeless has sponsored this wellness clinic since 2011. If a pet is ill or injured, the client is referred to Pets of the Homeless to apply for immediate emergency care.

For one more month and for the third year running Carson City's own Chef Don Pepe is giving all profits on the sale of olive oils and balsamic vinegars to the capital city based national nonprofit Pets of the Homeless.

For the third year running Downtown Coin and Chef Don Pepe are combining to sell Oil and Vinegar and all profit goes to Pets of the Homeless. This organization provides care for animals owned by homeless folks. Downtown Coin at 111 W. Telegraph St. in Carson City is open 9-4 Tuesday thru Saturday. The oils are $16 and the balsamic vinegar is $22.

Carson Properties was welcomed by the national nonprofit, Pets of the Homeless as a new donation site. Donations of pet food and supplies can be taken to 187 Sonoma St., Carson City that will be delivered to a local food bank, homeless shelter or homeless encampment.

With cold weather having settled into the region, five churches in Carson City have partnered this season to operate nightly winter warming shelters for the area's homeless. These volunteer-staffed shelters will rotate monthly, each providing a warm place to sleep for the homeless and their pets.

Hoping to at least double the proceeds from last year's annual Pets of the Homeless fundraising campaign, a pair of Carson City businesses have teamed up for a third consecutive year in an effort to help the pets of homeless people across the United States.

During October, Michael Hohl Motor Company held a pet food drive to fill a pickup for the national nonprofit Pets of the Homeless. This year the public, employees and customers filled the new Chevy pickup on the showroom floor with over 2,460 pounds of pet food.

Here is an updated parade list for all the entries in the Nevada Day Parade on Saturday. Note, there was a last-minute change in streets where the entries are supposed to line up that is different than the printed program. The change was made to accommodate some larger floats. During October, Michael Hohl Motor Company will be holding a pet food drive to fill a pickup for the national nonprofit Pets of the Homeless, based in Carson City.

The National Feeding Pets of the Homeless Give a Dog a Bone week returns for its eighth year, August 6-12, 2017. The Carson City based nonprofit organization Pets of the Homeless, focused exclusively on feeding and providing veterinary care to pets of the homeless, leads the charge across the country to collect pet food from the public.

Motorcycles are on the way. The Street Vibrations Spring Rally is rumbling into town and Battle Born Harley on Research Way is the place to be. Every Thursday, house band the Smoken Rabbits, gets the place jumping, but this party won’t end until Sunday. Pets of the Homeless wellness veterinary clinic at FISH on Saturday, May 20, was a success. Genevieve Frederick, founder of Pets of the Homeless and sponsor of the clinic, announced that 73 pets where seen and are now safe from infectious diseases. Dr. Gary Ailes of Sierra Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Mike Pulver of Timberline Animal Hospital and his staff, and Dr. David Kowalek and Dr. Micaela Kowalek of the Humane Society provided services.

Sierra Foot & Ankle will continue as a permanent donation site for “Pets of the Homeless” at 2350 S. Carson, Suite 3 in Carson City and 1516 Virginia Ranch Rd in Gardnerville.

Pets of the Homeless, a Carson City-based, national organization has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the Petco Foundation to support its emergency veterinary care program to service and therapy animals that belong to the homeless.

For the second consecutive year, Pets of the Homeless has been the beneficiary of a local, grass-roots fundraising event sponsored by Chef Jose "Don Pepe" Noriega-Paz and hosted by the Downtown Coin Club on Telegraph Street in Carson City.

Sierra Foot and Ankle, a podiatry practice with offices in Carson City and Gardnerville, is serving as a donation site for Pets of the Homeless and Friends In Service Helping (FISH) during the months of December and January, a press release said.

The program is an ongoing national effort to regularly supply donated pet food to local people who cannot afford to properly provide for their pets.

Inspired by the locally-based national non-profit Pets of the Homeless, Chef Don Pepe and Downtown Coin of Carson City have joined forces once again this year to raise money for the organization and its efforts to provide care for the furry companions of homeless individuals across the United States.

Beginning Saturday and running the entire month of October, Michael Hohl Motor Company in Carson City hosts its third annual "Give A Dog A Bone" pet food drive for the nonprofit organization Pets of the Homeless.

In February of this year, a coalition of military veterans and community stakeholders came together to form the Carson City Veterans Community Council (CCVCC), a local collaborative effort whose overall goal is to improve the coordination and delivery of direct care services to veterans.
