Here is this week's fishing report for rivers, lakes and streams in Nevada and Northern California. This report is for the week of Aug. 13-20, 2014.

A 32-year-old Tuolumne County man, Keith Matthew Emerald, has been indicted on four counts of allegedly starting last year's 250,000-acre Rim Fire, the largest fire in the Sierra Nevada in recorded history. United States Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner and U.S. Forest Service Pacific Southwest Regional Forester Randy Moore announced the indictment Thursday.

The Rim Fire, which burned for nine weeks and sent heavy smoke that choked Carson City, Carson Valley and Lake Tahoe air for weeks, included large areas in the Stanislaus National Forest and Yosemite National Park.

Nevadans only have a few more days to cast their vote for the final Sesquicentennial medallion. On Wednesday, July 23 the Nevada Sesquicentennial Commission invited all Nevadans to participate in choosing the design for the fourth Sesquicentennial Commemorative Medallion. Voting ends this Thursday, Aug. 7.

A Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 9:22 a.m. in the area of North Plaza and Washington streets on a felony burglary warrant issued out of Clark County. Charles Roy Dickey, 59, was taken into custody and was being held without bail awaiting extradition, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Acting on several tips of drugs allegedly being sold out of a home with children inside and local from a taxi cab driver, Carson City Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Team officers arrested five people Thursday night at a Condor Circle home.

Officers confiscated small amounts of methamphetamine, heroin, more than 30 pieces of assorted drug paraphernalia and cash after a search warrant was granted. Three children — two four-year-olds and a seven-year-old — were taken into protective custody, according arresting Carson City sheriff’s officers.

A 23-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday on felony drug charges, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said. Troy Lee Lindsey was booked on the felony charges after officers found two baggies of suspected methamphetamine in the man’s shoe.

According to the arrest report, a Carson City Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team officer observed the man make a sudden turn on North Roop Street to East Washington at 9:26 p.m., nearly causing a collision between himself and another vehicle.

Many celebrations are scheduled statewide in the month of August. These Nevada 150 events celebrate all things Nevada and bring awareness to the 150th Anniversary of Statehood. The following events are held Aug. 1 through Aug. 14.

A Reno man was booked Tuesday into Carson City Jail on a felony charge of probation violation. Timothy Ryan Gillenwater, 25, was stopped after a Carson City sheriff’s deputy observed the vehicle he was driving speeding 50 mph in a 40 mph zone and twice crossing the white travel lane divider, according to the arrest report.

Officers could smell a slight odor of alcohol from his breath and observed four opened and empty beer cans in the back seat of his vehicle, the arrest report states.

The following arrests were made by Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies from July 26 to the morning hours of July 29, 2014. Those arrested and facing charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

— A 43-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday, July 29, 12:36 a.m. in the 1400 block of North Lompa Lane on a misdemeanor warrant charge of petit larceny. Bail: $1,000.

A 65-year-old California man was arrested on a felony warrant charge of suspicion of statutory sexual seduction. Ronald Gene Hicks of Highland, Calif., was brought into jail Wednesday through an extradition and a $20,000 bail amount was set. No other information was available. The warrant was issued July 8, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court.

In other felony arrests: A 23-year-old Carson City woman, Kady Joann Werlinger, was arrested July 23 in the 4200 block of Shelbyville on felony drug charges of maintaining a drug house and possession of methamphetamine.

The Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Inc., also known as RSVP, has a limited number of free Farmers Market coupons for fresh produce to offer to Carson City low-income seniors through the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program.

Two black bears trapped Tuesday were released back into the wild by Nevada Department of Wildlife wardens. So far, 11 bears have been safely released back into the Sierra since July 1.

Both bears were tagged, tattooed and micro chipped in order to identify them in the future should they come back in to contact with humans. Neither bear had previously been handled by NDOW.

In honor of Nevada’s 150th birthday, the Nevada Sesquicentennial Commission invites all Nevadans to participate in choosing the design for the fourth Sesquicentennial commemorative medallion.

This medallion, the final in the series of four being produced throughout the year, will feature the winning design voted on by Nevadans. Voting begins today, Wednesday, July 23, which marks 100 days until Nevada Day, and ends Thursday, August 7, 2014.

On Friday, July 11, the Nevada State Museum, the Reno Navy League and the Nevada Sesquicentennial Commission will re-dedicate a plaque at the USS Nevada Memorial on the Capitol Grounds in Carson City. A reception honoring the battleship USS Nevada and her fallen crew will follow in Old Assembly Chambers.

This year’s Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival comes to the Sand Harbor State Park shore July 11-August 24, with William Shakespeare’s As You Like It as the featured production of the summer.

The Carson City Sheriff's Office reports 23 arrests over the holiday weekend period from Friday to Sunday, with a handful being for DUI and drug-related offenses.

Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong says the events this weekend at Mills Park generated a huge turnout, especially among families and by and large there were no major fights or crime-related incidents at the park.

A 59-year-old man suspected of burglary was arrested Wednesday and admitted to the crimes, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said. Charles Roy Dickey, whose address is listed as homeless, was jailed on three felony charges, including burglary, possession of stolen property and a failure to appear warrant issued in March out of Clark County District Court.

A proposal by the U.S. Forest Service to require food storage and refuse disposal in developed recreation sites on public land in the Lake Tahoe Basin has been determined to have no significant impact and now enters into a 45-day comment period for anyone who objects.

The U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit issued the draft decision Wednesday for the proposed Forest Order.

Because bears are attracted to anything edible or scented, improper storage of human food and other scented items and improper disposal of refuse is a leading cause of human-bear conflict.

UPDATE: Carson City Supervisors agreed Thursday to opt in on Nevada's medical marijuana law regarding establishments of dispensaries and facilities. The board voted 4 to 1 in favor of zoning changes that allow for medical marijuana establishments in zoned areas. Go here for the full story.

A 19-year-old Carson City man was jailed on multiple misdemeanor charges after allegedly using his vehicle in a reckless manner and refusing an order to pull over, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

Fire restrictions go into effect in the Lake Tahoe Basin beginning today, Thursday, June 26. Campfires and charcoal barbecues will be restricted to designated recreation sites, and other fire-related activities will be prohibited until the end of fire season.

“With record drought conditions in the West, agencies in both California and Nevada are anticipating increased fire activity,” said Fire Management Officer, Kit Bailey. “Fire restrictions help reduce the possibility of accidental human caused fires.”

The July 4th holiday and fireworks celebrations always bring a welcomed influx of boaters to the Lake Tahoe Basin. With sunny skies and warm temperatures predicted for the 4th of July holiday week, boaters are urged to Clean, Drain and Dry their boats before arriving at the roadside inspection stations in Tahoe to avoid delays and decontamination fees. As a reminder, all stations close at 5:30 p.m., so please plan your travel accordingly.

In commemoration of Nevada’s 150th birthday, Sesquicentennial belt buckles made their debut at the 95th Reno Rodeo June 19-28, 2014. State Senator James Settlemeyer and the Nevada 150 Commission joined Crumrine Gold & Silversmiths, a Nevada based belt buckle craftsman, to create the limited edition pieces. The belt buckles are $100 each and all proceeds go toward the Nevada 150 Foundation.

The Fourth of July holiday weekend is the busiest time in the Lake Tahoe Basin. For those visiting during the weekend and attending one of the firework displays over the lake, expect extremely crowded conditions and excess traffic.
